I bought a large Hamilton in claret during the Macy's friends and family sale. I wanted black but at 25% for clearance and 25% off for f&f sale it came to $195.75 before tax & I made myself love it. I finally decided to wear it yesterday & noticed that one of the studs/nails of the lock plate was missing & took it back today. I asked the young lady helping me for a possible even exchange. I think she was seasonal because she had a hard time checking the system. She said they had one in the back then she came back & said they didn't, pushed my purse toward me & just stared at me. For the price I paid, I really wanted to walk away with a bag so I asked her if they could order one off the site for me because I've been offered that service in the shoe dept. She said "I don't know. No." Then I asked if they had any other clearance bags that were of equal value I could possibly exchange for. She said "I don't know, what color do you want?" I said "What are my options?" She said "None. Wait let me check." Then she proceeded to check and said "Do you want black?" the color I originally wanted so I said "Yes, yay!" Then she said "never mind, do you want orangeish brown?" I said "that's fine." Then she said "actually I meant dark green." I said "are you sure you have it?" Then she said "oh no, it actually says we don't have it," and turned the screen to me. Then she said "let me check nearby." And gave me the name of a store half an hour away and said "They might have it. I don't know." I said thanks and was about to walk away and she suggested I check the Michael Kors boutique in the mall. I went over to the boutique and they only repaired items purchased in their store and told me to go to Michael Kors corporate, but I'd need the original receipt for proof of purchase when I sent in the bag. So I went back to Macy's to get a copy of my receipt because I lost it. I went back to the handbag dept, but I think the man helping got confused because he kept saying I couldn't exchange the handbag because it was clearance and damaged. Then finally another associate explained to him I just needed a receipt. I got my receipt and was about to leave when I noticed a black and vanilla Hamilton and some wallets with rose GHW that weren't there the week before. It was love at first sight. I made eye contact with an associate walking by and she came and asked me if I needed help. She was the first smiling warm associate I saw walking through the dept so I decided to try my luck and showed her my claret Hamilton and asked if I could at least get the f&f discount transferred. She said "this is so sad. No normally I can't but I can do a price adjustment for you. Then you get the 25% off, but it won't technically be an f&f discount." I was ecstatic! She brought me over to the station no one was using near the lower end items and rang me up because there was a long line and crowd near the other register station. Then she saw that I was going to use my Macy's card, and gave me another 20% off for using the card even though the shopping pass excluded Michael Kors which brought my subtotal down to $208.80. The difference from the clearance claret hamilton ended up being only just over $14. I got the exact bag I wanted for almost as low as clearance price because of this kind sales associate! I was so grateful and she made my day!
