As some of you know, I recently purchased a beater HAC from eBay. I got a very good deal on it, and was super pleased with myself. Until I got a message from the seller (birkinette eBay ID) saying she would not ship until payment was received. This sounded odd to me, and after discussing this with our beloved Mistikat she figured out who the seller was. Mistikat figured out this seller was Rosalyn Gaiter, the scam artist behind the Haley’s couture scams from 2006. (There’s a whole thread dedicated to her crimes in the eBay forum)

So, armed with this knowledge, I messaged the seller multiple times, encouraging her to complete the sale as she was contractually obligated to do. This woman refused to ship until she got her money. Mistikat and I think she photoshopped proof of possession when I challenged her on actually having the item, she claimed she was taking to eBay, and then this morning after me asking if she had spoken with the bay, she canceled the order.

I’m extremely lucky, both to have gotten my money back, and for Mistikat’s keen eye and thorough knowledge of the scammers that have plagued us over the decades.

It’s also a reminder: buyer beware, don’t be blinded by a good deal, take the time and do your research prior to buying!
P.S. I don’t think this is a HAC either....
P.P.S. A huge THANK YOU to Mistikat for watching out for me, and providing priceless insight into this situation. Mistikat is the best!

I was aware of the badly painted portion, I was fine with it...a beater bag as it were, and a rehab project to challenge myself with.

I love Mistikat...she’s my guardian H angel and I would say one of my closest friends. I miss her so much around here, and I think her not being here is a great loss of an invaluable asset for everyone

Glad you got your refund and all is well but I’m not understanding fully.....

Are you saying that you paid but she did not acknowledge your payment and that is why she would not ship? Otherwise No seller would ship until payment is received.

Edit.....nevermind
I saw the other thread where you posted more details....
The “hold” on the funds info was not in this thread.
At least she sent your refund quickly.

You also were covered by both PPand ebay so the refund would have eventually resulted but glad the seller did cooperate.....somewhat.

I think she’s trying to find someone who’ll pay for it off eBay or one of the other “you buy, we hold money until item received” sites. She’s using the sites to advertise for it, but I suspect she’s going to pull a fast one and convince someone to pay without any protections, and maybe send an empty box or something. It’s shady no matter how you look at it
