Hi, just had a few questions about the Vibrato material.

Has Hermes ever made any wallets, SLGs, charms, jewelry, etc. out of Vibrato? If so, how common or uncommon would these pieces be?

In terms of weight, how do pieces made from Vibrato compare to more standard materials?

Lastly, will Hermes still be able to service an item made from this material?

They've definitely made SLGs and jewelry out of Vibrato. There were coin purses and pendants in Vibrato, to name a couple of items that appear often on the resale market.

My Vibrato bag is pretty light, but not as light as box. I'd say it's midweight.

I've never needed to have my bag serviced-- it's held up really well-- but the spa should be able to handle a bag from any era. How much can be done for a Vibrato bag likely depends on how much damage or soiling we're talking about. In general, I find suede and nubuck MUCH sturdier than their reputation.

Even if it couldn't be refurbished, do you think they would still do a basic repair on an item in need of it?

It depends on what you call a basic repair.
It doesn't take much imagination to think that if the integrity of the vibrato is damaged it would be difficult to repair it to its original state.
But that does not mean that non-vibrato parts of a bag could or would not be repaired.
I realise that one of the important things with Hermes bags is the possibility of life-time in-house repair, but if that is denied there are other alternative.

I have seen some weird night-cap style coin purses on eBay.
This might be naive, but I take comfort in the thought that vibrato might be so difficult to fake it is probably not worth doing.

Someone more knowledgeable can feel free to correct me, but I believe the strips of leather are chevre, which is one of the lightest Hermes leathers. I recently bought a coin purse and I adore it. The velvety feel is great and the contrast interior tickles me.

i love vibrato and if for any reason you just can not repair vibrato can be dyed/recolored by a good specialist not hermes but point is you can have two tone birkin in some form of suede of vibrato if the vibrato simply becomes impossible .....

Thanks so much for the information and pictures so far. In my opinion the Vibrato pattern could really stand out considering what's popular these days - and do so without being too 'loud' or 'different'.
