Ladies,
Do you really have to put the Epi Mandarin purse to your nose to smell the cat-pee? Is it noticeable if you just carry it, can people around you smell it?
I just took my Jasmin out and held it close to my nose and took a whiff. (I know ... get a life:wacko: ) It doesn't smell bad at all. In fact it has a pleasant "leather" smell. Maybe it's just the Speedys that have a bad smell.

I think the speedy looks good because of the sag, most of the time you can tell a fake because it is so structured.

I agree, I like a sagging Speedy as well, looks authentic. However, I would love an extender for the Pochette, it gets on my nerves for the same reason.

I think LV should take some pointer from fakers then. I always have to stuff my speedy even just to take pictures. I don't like the sagginess factor.

Well...I'm coming to the Pochette's rescue on this one....

The Pochette isn't exactly made to be a purse, it's supposed to be like the Pochette inside the bucket, clipped onto a bag with a D-ring..

BUT The only Bone I have to pick with LV is how cheaply cost effective they are,

they used to use All Leather lining, or at least Alcantara...but now they've switched some Vernis, Damier, and EPI to Canvas linings...(that makes me mad since it's only a few bucks more in production value)

and they use Brass PLATING!! For what they charge they should be GOLD PLATING!!!...even Dooney and Bourke uses solid brass!!!

(vent over)

KHOI

My beef is it should not be plated at all. It should be a solid piece of hardware. Anytime you plate something, you run the risk of the top coat taranishing. I have owned a coach bag that I used frequently for over 10 years. The metal hardware is still intact. Comeon LV, if Coach can do it, so can you  .

I Believe The Reason The Mandarin Epi Alma & Jasmin Are Fine Is The Alcantara Lining? I May Be Wrong. I Only Have Black & Red Epi & They Both Smell Like Brand New LV......

The Saggy Speedy ~ It's Been Around Forever...Seems Normal.

Chipping Of MC Is Unacceptable, As Well As, Vernis Discoloring (Yet, To Happen To Me, But, It Probably Will!)

After owning LV for 8 years, I have come to the conclusion that NONE of their bags are 100% practical. But that doesn't stop me from trying to find one that is! :D

Lol yeah..it's like that no matter which designer bag you have. I have yet to fine one that's absolutely perfect in every way.

It's funny that there's such a weird smell with the mandarin..like I said, I've never actually smelled anything weird about it either at the store or with my Jasmin. I must be lucky lol.

As for the pochettes, I love carrying them on my shoulder with the extender strap. I've been doing it a lot more lately due to the light amount of things I have to take to my classes. I think they realized that many people DO use them as purses instead and make them in all patterns now. I'm trying to collect them (at least one from each line in the past few years) and just bought a graffiti pochette. I can't wait to get it! However, it's the first piece I didn't buy myself as brand new at the store or from elux.
So far my collection consists of black and white MC, monogram CB (brown w/pink), cerises, monogram canvas, panda, green perfo, fuchsia charms and though it's not technically a pochette, I have it with my others-the fuchsia vernis Lexington.

wow all this time I thought it was just me...I have an epi soufflot in myrtille and the smell was so horrid I febreezed it for about 2 weeks before using them lol, fyi, the smell was much stronger than new leather, it kinda smeled like oil, dye and leather:sick:

my biggest LV beef is over the rusty hardware and anything VERNIS. It's a designer bag so hardware shouldn't rust. period. That's the only reason I won't get a Manhattan GM otherwise I prolly would've owned 3

With the Vernis, the colors change and then you also have the issue of color transfer. Those are beautiful bags but those who don't baby their bags such as myself should think long and hard before investing in Vernis:cool:

I put a piece of cardboard in the speedy too... I like the original shape...the one they display on the shelf... the the sagging shopping plastic bag shape. So what if you think it's fake... fine! (Makes my speedy robery proof)

And also the pochette! It's around my arm and shoulder like a rubberband. I just have to carry it with my hand...

I've wanted a Speedy 30 for SO LONG but I'm TERRIFIED to buy one due to the untreated leather.Yes,I know that's one of the things that makes this bag fabulous, but I'm a busy Mom and I need a bag that I don't have to have a heart attack every time I leave the house and it happens to start raining!I have always heard that your shouldn't treat the leather because you won't get the same patina (which I enjoy) but if you ladies say it's ok,I'll trust your judgement.I just know that if I bought one,I'd use it to death because I love it so much.

The speedy was made to be a small carry on bag, you have to remember that LV was started out as LUGGAGE, not purses. When I stuff my sp40 with clothes, it looks fine. they were trying to make a small carry on that could hold alot, therefore almost a rounded shape.

Yeah, the speedy should be made so that it doesnt sag - but the pochette I have no problems with. Maybe its because I'm thin and a short 5'3 though... not exactly the size of the average american woman

The only thing I don't like about the Speedy is that it sags but I put a catalog at the bottom of it and no sag, so I'm okay with that. I don't have any other LV pieces yet but I when I do purchase one, I don't want the plating coming off to happen or anything like that. I tend to baby my bags.

i agree with you caanie i hate it when the hardware tarnishes, they ought to find a solution to that it is an expensive bag after all
