$80,000 Louis Vuitton Bag

Renowned for her use of dense patterns of polka dots and nets, one of Japan’s most celebrated contemporary artists, Yayoi Kusama’s collaboration with French luxury design house Louis Vuitton to create a collection of must-have handbags, ready-to-wear, travel bags, and accessories featuring Kusama’s iconic bright, repetitive patters has apparently become the most successful art union ever. And, Selfridges London which was the only place in the UK to house the exclusive collection impressively marked the occasion with an unprecedented 24-window scheme designed by Yayoi Kusama, and by erecting a giant Yayoi Kusama doll on top of its legendary main canopy entrance on Oxford Street. Now, the special collaboration between Selfridges, Louis Vuitton and Kusama continues with the launch of Kusama Pumpkin Minaudière, a $133,430 limited edition jewel bag.

Limited to only just 5 examples, the exquisite Minaudière handcrafted bag whose inspiration actually originated from the 1930s France small-sized statement evening bags first introduced by jewelers, is masterly formed out of black resin, pure gold, and finest metal.

Each of the 5 handbags has been hand-crafted with intricate detailing created following a delicate and meticulous process by LV’s master craftsmen.

Available to order through the Louis Vuitton concession at Selfridges, the Kusama Pumpkin Minaudière with a price tag of $133,430 certainly becomes one of the world’s most expensive handbags.

Completely handmade with 85% of gold, 15% of resin and a lambskin lining, the minaudière has already been acquired by three collectors (respectively in Japan, Unites States and Taïwan)

Reactions to this thread are educational. This is probably exactly what someone on a limited budget feels about tPF members spending patterns on LVs etc.

Their reactions how they'd not spend this much on a bag are the same as ours are towards 80.000 dollar bags. They feel we spend an insane amount. We feel 80.000 is an insane amount.

But if you're a multimillionaire, 80.000 is affordable and not so insane. So why shouldnt LV cater to these customers ? I'm sure there's a market for this. It's just not us.
