6 prong or 4 prong E Ring?

Hello, I am browsing e-rings online, and came across this one:

I need some advice as to a 4 prong setting or 6 prong...and the benefits of each? Also, any suggestions for the band is much appreciated! My preferred metal is platinum...

Personally I prefer 6 prong with a round. It's more secure, and maintains the look of roundness to the eye.

Mine is a classic Cartier setting...large stone, with four pointed prongs.
I agree that the six prong setting is more secure but mine is set with four to minimize the look of the metal...focus is more on the diamond.

4 prongs makes the round stone look more cushiony at a glance. 6 prongs I prefer for many reasons, roundness, security, size and balance. But it would look good either way really. To me 6 prongs make it look like the stone is wearing a crown.

I agree with this.

A 4 prong IS safe, it wouldn't be an option otherwise. I think it's a more modern look, while still totally classic.
