£550 ($700) to spend on a bag what would you go for?

If you are given $700 today to buy a workbag in the next 5 days, which bag would you go for and why?

I would buy a preloved Burberry or Tods tote. The reason is $700 is a little too much for a contemporary bag but it's not enough for a full price designer bag. Burberry and Tods are pretty cheap on the preloved market and you should be able to find a full leather tote for around that price in like new condition on yoogis or fashionphile. I won't spend more than $300 on a contemporary bag.

I'd look into Longchamp leather bags. Several styles are in your price range, and I've always found Longchamp to have great quality for the price.

MCM shopper tote or MK Jet Set tote. The MCM is right at your price range. I only mention the MK because I've heard good things about it, and it's well under your budget.

Mansur Gavriel Large Bucket Bag for $595 and you'd have money left over for dinner and a new wallet or pretty new accessories for inside. The quality is impeccable. The shape is classic and clean and goes with work or play clothes. It is on-trend (celebrities carry it) but isn't trendy. Best of all, because the collection sells out regularly, you may even be able to re-sell it when you are ready to move on.

I'm assuming you're in the UK-Coach has a 20% off offer on their new bags right now, save the 1941 collection; people would argue about how much to spend on contemporary brands, but I feel the quality for these are often no worse than premier designers. Worth a look!

I think laurel dasso leathers on etsy is absolutely a steal. She could make you a custom bag with a mix of all your favorite features in any amazing leather you can think of, even ostrich, under your budget!

I would recommend that you go to a store and check some of these bags out in person-sometimes things are really different up close, than from online pictures.

I agree. It's always better to try a bag on in person when possible. Regardless of price.
