Hi,

Am on wait list in UK for black Birkin in Togo or Taurillion Clemence and have just found a Birkin 35 in veau epsom, palladium HW in a delicious new colour bougainvillier (red/rose pink - divine) (SA spelling - not mine) in Hermes shop and I am having palpitations. I have reserved it and have come home to ponder. The leather looks lovely but I don't know how hard wearing it is - pictures in forum don't say. Also what do you think about the bright colours. I am torn between classic black combo as this is a really striking red/pink. I only went out for a newspaper!!! The price is 5650 Euros - roughly £5022 and $7656US.

Help!!!

I personally am a fan of epsom leather, its light-weight, low maintenance and holds its shape beautifully! If you have your heart set on black and can only afford 1, then I say wait....but if your wallet can handle it, go for it!

Hi,

Thanks for help. Can't really afford one but landed new job so am going to treat myself. Phoned UK Hermes in Selfridges and they were really helpful and said buy it as it wont be there for long!!! It is also £500 cheaper here than UK. Going to lie in sun for couple of hours and then decide.

I have blue jean Evelyne, chartreuse bolide and etoupe garden party so guess i like brights. my black anya hindmarch ebury will have to last a little longer.

A birkin on the shelf anywhere won't stay there long and especially not this colour as it is new for this season. If you love the colour then get it, especially if it will go with the clothes you wear and you can buy it without causing yourself financial difficulty.

Black is a staple and in my opinion will be easier to find in the future than another bougainvillier. You already said the colour is divine and from your other bags you like bright colours, so I say go for it :tup:

Hi All,

Bought it. It is from a seasonal Hermes boutique in Portugal. It is open 7 months of the year and they opened last week with 2 Birkins for the season. Both gone.

Picture taken with my iPhone so not great. Sorry.

Congrats, you'll love the way it wears, i have four dogs, a five year old DS who insists i tote every snack and apple juice cup in my "fancy purse" as he calls it and let me tell you, everything just wipes off and it will keep it's shape nicely and it's so light weight! and nary a worry about color transfer and corner rubs.....

And it takes color so beautifully! I am so jealous...what an amazing find...you'll always be able to find H in black, but this beauty is special!!!
