I'm glad you kept the older handbag treasures and can enjoy them again.
I've noticed over time that my handbag needs and preference change
and cycle. That's how I justify holding on to so many handbags.
Although in reality I can't see ever using shoulder bags or cross body bags
again. No matter how my needs change, my neck and shoulder issues won't go away.
Sometimes I fold up the straps to hand carry these bags and sometimes I try to
attach shorter straps.
Thanks, I'm glad I did also. But as much as I love my tote bags, especially Colette and my Coach Tyler tote, I can't carry bags on my left shoulder right now. Crossbody works because that strap is on my right shoulder. I really want to carry Tyler again but I'd have to get used to carrying it hand held.
ETA: I can wear Tyler crossbody but I don't like the way it looks. To me it's too big to carry crossbody. (But I may try anyway. )

I just noticed this oncour collection while checking my order status and I was shocked at the prices. I didn’t see any duck dooney logo. The canvas was $400. the bags were very minimalist and come in a huge variety of colors. I’m not sure when they came out with this collection. But uh ok, it’s priced up there like alto leather. I can’t see paying that much for canvas and I’m too clumsy for a bag where scratches stay…

so I sent my mom a variety of bags to choose for her birthday. She wanted green. She’s in a vintage black coach Lindsey. She picked the first one I sent her. I could tell in her voice she was excited. I told her it was for her birthday and I wanted her to pick something she liked. I know purse must be liked to be worn, and everyone has their own taste. She had a choice between nwt and vintage coach. Her pick is the NWT Coach Macie saddle in Amazon green. It’s cute and she loves it. There was only one that I saw so I ordered it for her birthday, will inspect, and wrap it up. I’m still gonna sport the florentine Ivy domed crossbody for her to see in person

For many people, once they get used to a handbag brand, it's hard for them to switch.
It can be small things, like internal pockets or strap lengths or widths or even how
the bag feels. And we are each entitled to use what we want.

I have handbags from several different brands, and I switch handbags several times
a week. I find it difficult to move into any handbag that does not have the
same internal pockets and key leash as are in standard Dooneys.
I even find it harder to use Dooney Alto bags for that reason.

And I can't understand how Coach and some very high end brands don't
have many internal pockets. Dark linings annoy me now (they didn't years ago).
And I much prefer the Dooney heavy cotton linings to flimsy silky fabric.
And when I see a handbag where the internal pockets aren't trimmed in leather,
like they are on Dooney handbags, my opinion about the quality of the brand
goes down.

Even tho I use accessories inside my handbag, I still use the pockets in a Dooney
for some things. And moving from Dooney to Dooney is very easy as the insides
are generally the same or very similar. I know exactly where my credit card
case is stored, along with my car key (in the zipper pocket).

That was me then, couldn’t see past coach, and is me now Florentine leather addicted. The thickness of the vintage coach leather, full grain leather, raw leather inside, was my standard. I didn’t want a bag with any lining. I didn’t care, at the time, that there was only that one back pocket on coach bags. I still have my vintage coach bags, duffle sac, shoulder sac, saddle flaps, but there’s no organization on the inside. i don’t reach for them as all my stuff gets lost inside that huge black hole.

I have many Rebecca minkoff Julian backpacks and I haven’t reached for them, again huge black hole no organization. I would use my backpacks on outings where I’d be walking a lot. I bought several organizers from pleasing to dye on Etsy, really beautifully hand made, and they help a lot with my backpacks Since they mold to those unique shaped backpacks…. I have one other Rebecca minkoff bag, Jett Boxy crossbody that I love. Had to get a different strap for it as the crossbody strap was a huge NO for me. The leather on that bag is amazing, soft but thin. Super cute, unique design and a fun to carry.

now dooney has caught my eye this year. I appreciate so many unique designs dooney brings. The inside red lining, LOVE IT. I can see without a flashlight, it’s not a black hole. I love the leather trimmed pockets and I hate them at the same time. Depending what’s in them , they will tend to bulge out into the bag, sometimes snagging things as I put them in the bag. I’ve learned what to put in them to avoid this. the key leash is awesome. No other bag I own has this. I keep my keys in a pouch so my bag or pockets don’t get damaged. I put my ear buds and pocket knife on my key leash. I can whip it out in a hurry and they’re not lost in my bag. Florentine leather which I am absolutely in love with. The thickness, the vivid colors, the smell of it are AMAZING. With My first Florentine purchase, domed buckle satchel, I was in awe. I had never felt anything like it. The look of that bag, the buckle details, the tassels, the shape of that bag, the whip stitched handles, the back pocket that my iPhone 12 Pro Max fit into, the craftsmanship, EVERYTHING about the domed buckle satchel is a work of art. It’s stunningly beautiful and very unique. It started my love affair with Dooney and Bourke Florentine collection. As my collection grows the beauty and craftsmanship never fades. Each bag is unique and very beautiful. Every bag incredibly detailed with thought on how it looks and functions. The way they smile and patina over time is incredible. I love the flirty tassels on each side.

I am so happy I’m here in this place where I found something I love, that makes me happy just looking at it. Before the pandemic, I had not purchased a handbag since 2009-10 ish. I had to have cervical spinal fusion in my neck and now have a plate and 4 screws keeping my head attached to my body. I wasn’t trying to carry a handbag, I used Fanny packs Or backpcks. I find that I can carry the Florentine satchels with the strap doubled with no issues. I can hand, crook of arm carry. No crossbody carry, except for the 3 tiny crossbody bags I got at the outlet. They fit minimum items, phone, wallet, key pouch, mask that I STILL wear when I’m out and about, hand sanitize, and a lippy…..

sorry for the long drawn out saga, but bottom line I don’t want to waste money looking at anything else when I know what I already love. I know I will be happy with my Florentine Dooney and .Bourke bags.

Thank you both. I set my bid and raised it to my maximum sweet spot. In those last few minutes somebody was really trying, but wasn’t meant for them. There is a chestnut in this style that the seller was selling along with this… starting bid $126; a real steal, smooth and in great condition. But this crimson caught my eye, and I hadn't seen this color for sale. There a a couple brown tmoro, chestnut, natural, and ivory in this style on the resale sites. I wish Peter would bring some of the older styles back from the vault in Florentine not just pebbled leather.
so I’m gonna sit down somewhere and wait for my Tilton to cone next month. I’ve been working all day setting up my shelving and smelling all the leather. That room smells like an expensive new car…hope you have a blessed weekend
I am sure the chestnut is beautiful, but that crimson is STUNNING!
I understand about bans. Mine is on shoes. Purchased five pairs in six weeks. Time to stop. So what if they're cute.

This bag in Crimson haunts me too lol This is the double pocket satchel color I want. Congratulations!! Glad you won the bidding!! I saw it at the last minute after it sold on my Ebay saved searches. It is beautiful and looks in wonderful condition! Enjoy it and wear in good health!!

I don't like last second swooping in bidders even if they are allowed. Idk it's just me, feels unfair. I saw the Chestnut and it looks good too. If you can, I would get it. I have a Chestnut one and they are becoming hard to find in good condition. For $126 go for it.

I don't think we will see Red in this bag on Ebay or Poshmark anytime soon. The last one I saw in Red sold for $599..

I was looking at it. I said if nobody got it I would. The seller took very good care of this crimson. I was looking at the chestnut at first, then this one came into view, I’m like you got to be kidding me? She priced it the same as the chestnut. Should have asked for a deal for both, but I didn’t know if I would like it. Chestnut seems to laugh at the rain. It’s been rainy here and Ive been in my chestnut zip flap foldover for 2 weeks. I’m really loving this bag. Perfect size. I love I can long or short shoulder carry with this 3 part strap. It makes me smile just looking at it.

I love the 3 part straps! I have a Medium Mailbag and Toggle crossbody and they are just so great to reach for. That it makes you smile just looking at your bag, makes me smile....this we all understand here

If ever you sell that Crimson...( you won't.. I wouldn't lol) I'm here! I did see someone swooped in with 4 bids. I've never bid on a bag it's just stressful to me lol If she had put an option to buy outright like the Chestnut one, I would have. That tells me you were even luckier getting it for a good price, Think she was hoping Crimson would go way higher. It really is in beautiful condition! So rare. When you take Ms. Crimson out and about, I would love to see photos! I bet that seller would work with you on the Chestnut.

My regular Chestnut satchel and my Chestnut Logan laugh at the rain. Some other colors I have get the Apple Guarde spray. Dooney Addict 615 on you tube has videos on her bags surviving rain just fine.I'm not that brave lol Florentine black I don't even think abou. It's stress free and so gorgeous. I saw above you will eventually get one. The patina on a black florentine is just so beautiful....

she did have a buy it now at $175. I work afternoon shift and I get home at midnite. I will set the starting bid then bid my maximum, because I work and I can't get to my phone. I lost a NWT factory sealed Florentine Kingston in Bordeaux at $120... I learned that day that the last min is crucial and vultures start circling out of nowhere... Nobody got ithe chestnut and this will be the 3rd time listed. I'm trying to be good and wait for a small Logan in my sweet spot price... My eye is on the chestnut twin.

thank you. I couldn't believe how lucky I was with winning the bid. I'm new to collecting Dooney, and I wouldn't sell them. I will be retired (25 years in maximum security prison) June 1 and living on a fixed pension. in my mind I can buy what I want now, maybe not so much on a fixed income. and I will have plenty of time to love on each and every bag while traveling.

Man I wish I was able to get these bags when all the rainbow colors were for sale. I'm watching qvc looking at 15 beautiful Florentine satchels in all those amazing colors...
I do not own a black Dooney. with all the pretty colors I'm like why black when I can live in color... I'm thinking I'll buy a small Florentine satchel black black for my aunt for Christmas. I think the large would be too heavy/big for her. I'm gonna ask my mom to ask her for a pic of her purse and see what size it is. when a Dooney and Bourke Florentine arrives in Florida, she is gonna loose her mind...

I love Florentine leather in black. I love Florentine leather in lots of colors. But...
not everyone loves a black handbag. Since your aunt is in Florida, where the weather
is warmer, even in the winter, her color preferences may be different. She might prefer
other lighter or warmer neutrals (like chestnut) or even navy or a color.
You have some time to investigate.

I love the chestnut, and I didn’t think I would. So rich. Thank you for that. I’ll find out her favorite color also. She might love red.

Black handbags have always been my default purchase. I have one in every handbag style
I've collected. Which means I own a ton of black handbags.
And if there is a great sale, and no other color appeals to me, I'll buy
another black Dooney. But.... I recognize that especially with Florentine and Alto leather,
black can be an acquired taste. In these leathers especially, I think black is very
understated. It's classic and elegant.

I know Dooney enthusiasts who think black
is boring and chestnut/Tmoro/natural/saddle are nicer and go with more things.
It's taken me many years to appreciate those warmer tones.
Maybe it's because I prefer cool tone wardrobe colors or because I
lived and worked in NYC for years.

Those warmer brown tones also seem to be very popular with the
very high end handbag brands. You see a lot more YT videos with
people lusting after their first 'gold' (think natural Flo or saddle Alto)
handbag. You rarely see black on someone's 'wish list'.

I'm sure your aunt will be thrilled with whatever Dooney you select.
But since it will be such a treasure, it will be even better if it's something
she can wear often.

I just can’t see black right now. They’re beautiful, but all the pretty colors tho…

I was also basing the flo on the size of whatever picture she sends of her current handbag. I want her to have the large but I know that it’s probably too big and heavy for her, being an older lady. So either small or mini. I’m gonna have to ask ma about any arthritis and such. I don’t want to ask any questions myself and ruin the surprise. Whenever my aunt would come up to Chicago, she always left with a vintage coach bag that I had given my mom. My aunt really enjoyed receiving them. I thought it would be a real nice surprise to have a new Dooney and Bourke on her doorstep to unwrap and enjoy. I know she would enjoy a Florentine unlike my mom… SMH.
