That was me then, couldn’t see past coach, and is me now Florentine leather addicted. The thickness of the vintage coach leather, full grain leather, raw leather inside, was my standard. I didn’t want a bag with any lining. I didn’t care, at the time, that there was only that one back pocket on coach bags. I still have my vintage coach bags, duffle sac, shoulder sac, saddle flaps, but there’s no organization on the inside. i don’t reach for them as all my stuff gets lost inside that huge black hole.
I have many Rebecca minkoff Julian backpacks and I haven’t reached for them, again huge black hole no organization. I would use my backpacks on outings where I’d be walking a lot. I bought several organizers from pleasing to dye on Etsy, really beautifully hand made, and they help a lot with my backpacks Since they mold to those unique shaped backpacks…. I have one other Rebecca minkoff bag, Jett Boxy crossbody that I love. Had to get a different strap for it as the crossbody strap was a huge NO for me. The leather on that bag is amazing, soft but thin. Super cute, unique design and a fun to carry.
now dooney has caught my eye this year. I appreciate so many unique designs dooney brings. The inside red lining, LOVE IT. I can see without a flashlight, it’s not a black hole. I love the leather trimmed pockets and I hate them at the same time. Depending what’s in them , they will tend to bulge out into the bag, sometimes snagging things as I put them in the bag. I’ve learned what to put in them to avoid this. the key leash is awesome. No other bag I own has this. I keep my keys in a pouch so my bag or pockets don’t get damaged. I put my ear buds and pocket knife on my key leash. I can whip it out in a hurry and they’re not lost in my bag. Florentine leather which I am absolutely in love with. The thickness, the vivid colors, the smell of it are AMAZING. With My first Florentine purchase, domed buckle satchel, I was in awe. I had never felt anything like it. The look of that bag, the buckle details, the tassels, the shape of that bag, the whip stitched handles, the back pocket that my iPhone 12 Pro Max fit into, the craftsmanship, EVERYTHING about the domed buckle satchel is a work of art. It’s stunningly beautiful and very unique. It started my love affair with Dooney and Bourke Florentine collection. As my collection grows the beauty and craftsmanship never fades. Each bag is unique and very beautiful. Every bag incredibly detailed with thought on how it looks and functions. The way they smile and patina over time is incredible. I love the flirty tassels on each side.
I am so happy I’m here in this place where I found something I love, that makes me happy just looking at it. Before the pandemic, I had not purchased a handbag since 2009-10 ish. I had to have cervical spinal fusion in my neck and now have a plate and 4 screws keeping my head attached to my body. I wasn’t trying to carry a handbag, I used Fanny packs Or backpcks. I find that I can carry the Florentine satchels with the strap doubled with no issues. I can hand, crook of arm carry. No crossbody carry, except for the 3 tiny crossbody bags I got at the outlet. They fit minimum items, phone, wallet, key pouch, mask that I STILL wear when I’m out and about, hand sanitize, and a lippy…..
sorry for the long drawn out saga, but bottom line I don’t want to waste money looking at anything else when I know what I already love. I know I will be happy with my Florentine Dooney and .Bourke bags.
