21A Caramel /Brown / Cognac color

Posting a thread to discuss the color of the 21A caramel / light brown. It seems to have garnered a lot of comments, and questions due to the shifting colors in different lights. Please post your opinions and reference pics, especially if you have the bag or have seen it in person!

I have a feeling that those who passed on it will regret it as more photos of those styling it emerge. It’s a gorgeous, rich brown color with slightly warmer, orange undertones. It reminds me a lot of what other brands call “Tan” for bags.
I think a lot of photos that were passed around on the internet had increased brightness and saturation from photo editing, much like 21P’s caramel which appeared orange but is more of a pink brown.

To each their own, but I am personally excited for it! I think the Chanel community sometimes has a group-think mentality where certain bags or colors are hyped up or disliked. If you personally love it, then get it. Don’t let anyone tell you it looks ugly, as all of our closets and bodies differ.

I think its such a unique brown for Chanel, and am excited to use mine!

I reserved it and it’s on its way to me. Will report when it arrives. I voted for cognac.For me it’s a great neutral for fall

I decided to wait to see it in person when my reserve arrives and decide on my own. But I must say I’m disappointed that the color is not the same as what I have seen in the photos shared in the forum earlier this year. If this one doesn’t work, I will wait for 21k. Seems like the 19 brown and the classic are totally different colors based on some slg images…. But I don’t even feel the need to reserve any until I see better photos hahah

I saw it in person and it looks like a true pumpkin pie color. A little too orangey for my liking.

Great advice! I completely agree with you. I haven’t seen it IRL but I was sent pics first on the CCH and passed because it didn’t look cognac/tan to me and that’s the color I am looking for. I am waiting for the CF and hopefully will be ready with my decision. I must say all these pics are looking beautiful!

Love that there is a thread for this ! I initially passed on this bag bc I thought it was too orange but I regretted it and was lucky enough to get it in the small 19 . Here it is in different lighting and against my Hermes gold Oran’s and Valentino tan sandals

So helpful!! Thanks for sharing your pics. Congratulations — looks amazing on you. This color is truly a chameleon: it reads a stronger orange in shop lighting and due to our phone’s screens. It looks lovely in your pics and nice to see against other browns/tans.

Every designer has their own version of tan, of course, but I have found it is closest to the Isabel Marant lecce belt. I think that belt color is almost an identical brown to this season’s Chanel brown. Hope that is helpful reference for those who have the belt or have seen it online.

I saw the coco handle. It just looks more orange to me IRL...like a Fall season specific orange and not a year round shade of orange. It is a saturated shade but really looks like a pumpkin pie color. I love pumpkin pie but I don’t want a bag that makes me want to eat it.

I saw a shopping video from this influencer Maria Draganova but sadly she didn't get a closer shot of the bag. Liking the cognac/caramel shade in her video though! Definitely looks 70s vintage as mentioned before here. Will be taking more photos when my extra mini CCH arrives
