I have a request for the 2024 bag prices thread. When people share dozens or hundreds of prices over the course of the year, and there are dozens of different bags being covered, it gets really hard to keep track of which information is new. Yes, I know the prices have dates, but as the list gets longer, it's hard to scroll it all and spot the needle in the haystack. I have two suggestions:
  1. Have people bold or in some other way highlight the new addition; and/or
  2. Have people put their addition at the top of the list (above the bag names) and in the appropriate place

I'm not trying to jump in and take things over, and if this is just a no-go, please accept my apology for stepping out of line. But as we've been discussing, this place can get confusing, and I know that's one place that particularly confuses me.

We used to bold the new information however as more and more members started go contribute, folks got sloppy and inevitably lines would not be unbolded before adding new data. Some of our more OCD OGs would spend half their day fixing the errors. It's also a very cumbersome list to copy and edit, especially on mobile, so every touch is a disaster waiting to happen.

Makes sense. What do you think about putting the new info at the top of the post as well as in its proper place?

Not a fan.

I'm personally not opposed to the bolding of the new info, I'm just giving you insight as to how its gone wrong in the past.

I also think the prevailing point of the thread is for folks to look up an item they are interested in as the interest arrives, so easily knowing what's new isn't the typical intended use case.

That's fair enough. I admit I'm probably using it in a less typical way (having gotten exactly 0 bag offers so far, I'm monitoring everything to keep a general awareness of what to expect).

Funnily enough, my requests for the next price thread would I guess be the opposite:

- Please don't bold your new purchases, because the next person has to then de-bold it. (There is a new purchases thread to flex in ;)). Also, many folks regularly add website prices to help fill out the list and so are adding multiple bags at a time.
- Please, in the sticky, recommend using cut and paste instead of quoting, as it's less likely to mess up the format.
- (Related) please keep the formatting, spacing, and bolding that you are copying from.

I understand the enthusiastic and the frustration you may have, but I'd just let go of the monitoring because the price thread isn't an accurate reflection of what offers go out to people. Offers will come when the time is right for you. :)

Oh, totally not monitoring because I'm in a rush! I don't check every day or anything. I just want to keep tabs of the general pricing direction.
