20 motif YG hammered or MOP vintage necklace?

I can only buy one 20 motif piece. Should I get the hammered yellow gold or MOP? I love that the hammered yellow gold for its history and is the first Alhambra and also it was worn by Grace Kelly. But I also love the look of the MOP, at the same time, very worried about caring for it and that it may not be able to be worn daily and may shrink over time.

I only have one 20 motif and it's the yellow hammered gold. I have no regrets and don't plan to add another. It's super easy and no fuss.

Have you had a chance to try them both on? I ask this because although I love the idea of 20 hammered gold Alhambra motifs, it is simply too much yellow gold for me to wear and the MOP in YG would suit better. That much yellow gold all together, and the necklace is wearing me, rather than the other way around.

If you can carry it off, my vote would be for the hammered gold.

Hi! I vote YG MOP. Why?

Because the YG MOP combination to me is the bomb! The MOP just glows!

For me, I am not a fan of wearing just an "all metal" chain necklace. That's just me though.
Yes, Grace Kelly wore it, but that was a different time and aesthetics were very different then.

Today, all metal chain necklaces give off a different aesthetic and vibe, so think about your preference.
For me, I much prefer the elegance and glamour of YG MOP.

Jewelry is all personal preference, so think about your fashion look and what you prefer.

I am a huge pearl fan and have worn pearls for a long time. Pearls are more robust than you think.
I have a WG MOP set that I love and wear often. It's not like you are going to swim & soak in your 20 motif.
You will be perfectly fine. I would not let fear prevent you from getting what you love. Buy what gives you an ear to ear grin.

Just my two cents. Regardless of what you decide, I love love love the 20 motif... I think you will love it too. Good luck!

I believe Grace Kelly had 3, and that was including the HG and the MOP (and an onyx too).

If your skin glows in yellow gold the go for the HG, it can be an everyday piece, once or twice around, that just looks like a fancy gold chain, or, it can be be a very regal for a night out and occasion.

I know hammered is a carefree piece, but as a 20 motif it's not quite an everyday jewelry piece either. In that case, I'd vote for MOP as it's softer and easier to wear on its own but also layer with other jewelry pieces you own. I feel like with hammered it's a lot of metal, you'll probably want to layer it with either a long pearl necklace or a magic MOP pendant to soften up the look. I did a quick google search and most of the time Grace Kelly also layer her hammered 20 motif with MOP and/or onyx. The only picture I can find where she's wearing hammered by itself, it's paired with a large clover charm/pendant. But do try both on at the boutique and see which one works better for you :smile:

I would also say to try it both and decide wich triggers the waouh effect 😍. Both are magnificent and you already know the advantage and disadvantages of each. I have a second hand sautoir with MOP that has some motifs that look a bit dull with the wear and tear of you really look attentively; but from further you don’t see anything at all so it doesn’t bother me. And if it does you could still change some pieces

I agree you should try both on if you haven't already and see how you feel. I have found that with jewelry, like clothing, you never really know how it will look on you until you try it on. I recently tried the magic alhambra 16 motif (white and grey MOP and onyx) which I was certain I was going to fall in love with but after obsessing about it, I felt meh when I put it on. I literally said to my daughter "I can live without this" and wasn't even tempted to buy. A case of it looking better in the case just as some garments look better on the hanger. Try them and go with your gut!

Hi everyone! I finally got the 6 motif Magic Alhambra YG MOP. I was really fortunate and found that it was available in Taiwan, where I have family. I had to ask my family's help in first putting down a deposit, but of course, the SA contacted me in last month about the price increase, so I had to ask my family to pay the balance first (the SA said they cannot accept a credit card over the phone). I finally visited this past week and picked it up! I am in love and it is even more gorgeous in person!

The SA said the necklace can be lenghtened. Do you think this is a good length? Or should I have it lengthened?

Congratulations @noob1737 ! Looks stunning on you.:heart: I love the 6 motif. The length looks perfect on what you've wearing. But if you did want to extend, perhaps just buy an extender? I didn't extend mine and just use an extender for days when I need it longer.
