Ideal cut or just okay?
If it HAS to be VS1 instead of VS2 or SI1 then about $20k-30k
But since your eyes can't see the difference between VS1, VS2 or SI1 if you were willing to slide down to those it would be more like $14k-20k.

I just bought my engagement ring in February and prices have gone up but a 2 carat round G VS1 Ideal Cut I think should around $20K-$25K. You can check this website out that I found very useful pricescope. So I bought mine was 2.39 carats, I SI1, AGS Triple Ideal, Hearts and Arrow Ideal for $21K.

Thanks guys! What about the value of a trade-in? If you give your jeweler original receipt from previous e-ring to trade up, do they give you the same value or do you lose some?

If you go to the same jeweler they should give that amount paid for the ring. However I have not traded in any diamonds but I think you would lose money unless the diamond is brand diamond Cartier, Tiffany, etc.... You might break even if the diamond is branded cut.

I traded up at the beginning of this year, and traded in my old diamond toward my new one. My diamond was about 12 years old and they gave me almost exactly what I paid for it. I had bought it from a different jeweler. Of course this was a loss since the value of a dollar has gone down since then, but I had no use for the diamond. After researching it a bit I found that they'd given me about 70% of it's current value. They didn't take the setting, gave that back to me.

PS It was not a designer diamond.

What is price range of a "G", VS1, 2 carat solitaire not from a designer? Also, do jewelers sometimes give you value of what you paid for previous e-ring if you trade up?

Our jeweler will give us whatever we paid for our purchases as trade in for anything. Most independent jewelers should.

Also, there's a huge difference between a 1.99 carat and a 2.00 carat. You may not see this difference in retail stores, but in diamond wholesale, there is a major price difference.

Non-designer, non-certified for a 1.99 carat would go for around $12,000. A 2 carat would top $15,000.

Go to bluenile and price them. You should be able to get about 30-40 percent less from a diamond district jeweler.

Some jewelers will give you back your origional $ if you are spending twice the origional price for the new one. I have bought 2 ct round brilliant from $5000 ( he needed the money) to $9000, but there was a difference in quality. You have to look at the stones before you know exactly what you want, some lesser quality stones are gorgeous and the flaws ate unnoticible where they are.
