Hi lovely ladies,
I want to get my 1st Chanel bag and am considering between the Mini or the Small CF. I’m on the petite side and want a day-to-night bag so do not like any bigger size.
I’ve read quite a few reviews about these two bags that have almost the same capacity. The price difference is quite significant so at first I was about to get the Mini but then I also like the classic look of double chain wearing and CF seems to have more price increase so maybe it’s better to get it sooner.
I’m also hesitating between beige and black. I’m selling all my Furla bags so don’t have any bag in both colors. I think both can match my outifts easily as I wear mostly neutral colors. This will be my occasional bag for going out, diners and events but I’m still afraid of color transfer. Maybe if I get beige better in caviar, and lambskin with black as I like its luxurious feel.
My 1st and only Chanel item to date is a pair of classic beige/black slingback.
What’d you choose if you were me? Thanks!

Thanks, the medium / classic size seems to be THE one to get ultimately for everyone, I wanted to get it at first but after trying on it's just a little big for me as a night bag, maybe because I'm extremely thin :(

Thanks, is the caviar quality degrading recently? I've read about peeling etc. from new buyers. So I think that lambskin may be a good choice giving a more classic look even though it's more prone to scratch but I'm not using my Chanel bag everyday (too showing off for work).
I agree that mini in a bright color is great. I also want a beige mini in caviar but it's extremely hard to find and the rare ones are in general overpriced!

I would go for the small classic flap. The mini is cute but I think the classic flap look of the small makes it more appropriate for day to night. I think the black caviar with either silver or gold hardware will be a fantastic piece! There is one on fashionphile right now black with silver hardware for less than $4k!! The small classic flaps are definitely hard to find. But if you can get one I say jump on it right away!! Good luck and do let us know what you decide to go with!

I have the M/L Beige classic flap and I adore it!

Both bags will fit about the same amount of stuff. I think the major difference is do you want to wear it crossbody, or as a shoulder bag? Chose based on that. The other factor to consider is that it can be difficult to find a black mini, at least in the boutiques. I can’t speak to the small flap.

As for colour, I think black is more versatile, and there’s no worry about colour transfer. Once you have a black, then beige would be a good choice for your second Chanel. Good luck choosing!

Thanks for your suggestion. You're right it's so hard to find a small CF in excellent condition with a decent price on pre-owned market. I do prefer black with GHW, I once saw one on therealreal but it was sold very quickly!

Thanks for sharing, I agree with you about the major difference, it's exactly what I have to consider about. I've seen people make double chain with the mini to wear it on shoulder, do you think it's a good idea? I'm not wearing the bag everyday so I'd not be bothered to do that trick from time to time.
I live in Paris where there's the best stock so it's not extremely hard to get a black mini if it's released in a collection, just make sure to come to store not too late, the same with small flap.

I had a WOC and found it to be a pain to double up the chains to wear on the shoulder. It just felt too fussy for me. That said, many people manage it without any difficulty. I think the mini would be the same way. If you’re happy to do that, then the mini will give you the versatility of wearing it two ways.

I’m size 0 petite. I personally prefer mini ( I like square mini a little more because rectangular mini sits too low on me) or m/l CF for first Chanel. I would pick mini instead of Small CF because of the price difference. My small CF is heavier than the mini but they fit about the same (actually easier to fit my sunglasses in a mini). I also find it easier to take care a smaller lamb skin bag.
I got my first small CF earlier this year but I still find myself reaching for the mini or m/l CF.
If this is going to be your only Classic bag, it’s nice to have the double flap.

If you like the look and price of a mini, but prefer double chain like a small cf, another option can be a reissue mini, which came out in 19A collection. Not sure how hard it is to get it now, but if you are not obsessing over the cc turnlock and okay with the aged look of a reissue, this might check the box. The current 19K collection also has mini black reissue with ruthenium hardware, leather is sheepskin, so it will be more durable than lamb, and does not have an aged look.

I would vote black mini, but I Like to have e the option to wear my bags crossbody.

Black will not wear as much as beige, so if you’re only going to have one Chanel, I would say black. But I also thought I would only have one Chanel :giggle:
