Any vintage experts have an opinion on this? I'm not thinking of buying, just curious! The interior CC stitching looks very odd indeed, but then I've not seen any other 50s era examples to compare it to. I do know that the first 2.55s didn't have the CC symbol hardware on the front, but that's about all I know! All the other elements look quite probable. Wondered if the embossed L de Lange was someone's monogram? Or a store's? Who knows?
Just thought it was interesting anyway. Perhaps it's the original eBay fake, hahaha! Your thoughts please. :winkiss:

I thought the first bag CoCo Chanel made was in 1955 (original 2.55) so the bag is not from the 1940's.

I know the original bags made in the 50's had the mademoisele locks closures I think until the 70's, and I believe the original bags did not have the leather intertwined w/the chain yet. I think that the original also had the interior burgandy leather (but not 100%).

I dont think the bags were really being replicated until early 80's. Hopefully, we can get somemore opinions, if anything its interesting looking.

Well, besides the fact that the interior CC logo is completely off, the back diamonds don't line up with the pocket. So my bet is that it's not authentic.

^^^I agree w/ greendrv ... the interior CC logo is wrong and that is the main trademark of Chanel, I doubt that Chanel would alter that CC design at any time. I don't think that it's a fake Chanel but possibly another designer following a similiar style and that little gold writing shown is the name of the designer.

It looks weird. I'm no Chanel expert, but there is something I'm not buying... I'd say steer clear from it, it's too suspicious.

Edit: That's a good guess asl_bebes, I think you might just be right about that!

I was thinking the same in regards to the designer of the bag being the Lange person....

As you say, February '55 is the key date, isn't it? The seller obviously doesn't know their stuff on that score at least! I think you're right about the burgundy leather too, and the leather intertwined chain.

asl_bebes, greendrv & Michele, I reckon you're all spot-on. Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery and all that. So, probably a 50s designer trying to echo the 2.55 but I wonder if the dodgy CC has been added more recently - an addition for eBay maybe? It looks rather amateur, doesn't it?

Ah well, an interesting one. Thankfully it looks as though few buyers are biting anyway.

A great discussion ladies, thankyou!

Is this Vintage Burgundy Chanel authentic?

I think it's from the 80's, did a little research about serial numbers and that if it's a 7-digit then it's from the 80's, but i'm wondering if rare vintage such as this (or any other vintage) have monagram lining? I'm no expert with the interior, as far as i know i can only detect authentic ones from it's serial number. Any thoughts ladies? :) thanks!
