Hi All - I’ve LOVED this necklace for so long as it looks so chic and elegant in VCA stock photos. I got it recently as a gift, but I’m feeling a bit of a conundrum.

1. It maybe a bit too long as a single strand unless with high collar sweater or dresses in the summer
2. Double strand is more versatile, and it seems to work alright with solid color tops even a bit more casual ware. However, it feels a bit heavier and sweaty around neck
3. It’s beautiful, so I love looking at it. However, I’m quite afraid of scratching the motifs especially when double up. I’d hate the large motif showing wear and tear. This necklace is relatively pale too, so if the motifs loose luster, it may look dull?

Love to hear your thought! It is not one that I see often anywhere, maybe for the same reasons I listed above? Thank you!!!!

It's a lovely piece but I always say if you have to ask someone else it typically means you don't love it enough. Considering the price of these pieces (and my being more practical by nature), I would say: unless you have an unlimited budget (or your gifter does and won't mind not seeing you in it often or ever), then perhaps you could exchange this item for another piece or two on your wish list which you will love and get use out of.

It is from a family member's collection. She has this YG one that I love from the pictures and the YG Onxy one, which may even be more versatile (and durable?) that I can choose from... I am also going to see a brand new C de Cartier brand new diamond bracelet she has... Just had a baby, and feels more leaning toward something simple in upkeep and durable. The family member told me that with the perlee casement on the motif, they are pretty durable and I should not worry... I guess I can always replace motifs too if anything happens to them...

It does look too long single strand, I agree.
The double is nicer, but you say it feels heavy and sweaty.
Can you see yourself getting used to it or will it continue to annoy you?
I like the feel of single strand. I think it can work during the summer with dresses. It looks too long on any normal tops that I wear during the winter.

Double strand can be quite casual (Have not tried with a Tshirt yet...lol) or dressy. I just keep adjusting it so the motifs dont touch each other, which is hard!

I would ‘return’ if you can as I don’t see this working for you given comments. Worn long it is an awkward length and mostly chain. I think it looks best double or triple. You may want to try the 6 motif or 20 motif. 6 is more look of current one but shorter so no overlapping stones. 20 since it is a better long length than magic.

I assume the store does not shorten the necklace chain like they do for bracelet?

First of all congratulations on the new baby! My two cents on the necklace would be to return it - I have found this piece particularly hard to wear for the reasons you and other posters have said. Worn long it hits at an awkward spot, and I’ve found it really only works with solid color dresses. Worn doubled the look is a bit busy. It’s a beautiful, interesting piece but I’ve found it hard to style.

A new baby, how wonderful! With that in mind, I wouldn't suggest a long necklace, or even a short one for that matter. Baby's little hands will be drawn to it like a magnet. Since the gift from a family collection, I'd seriously suggest the Cartier diamond bracelet. How nice to be offered so many choices!

Hi! I agree with your issues and the other's comments. I love long necklaces, and I have necklaces as long as 52", so I am fine with the length.

My issue with this necklace is how it looks when worn.
I went to buy this necklace, but when I tried it on, it did not work for me. Why?
Because when worn long, it's too much chain, and the motifs are spaced too far apart. I also didn't like it worn double as it looks too busy and not structured like a single long necklace. Plus, I've doubled long necklaces before, and they never stay in place. The necklace always shifts when you walk and move, and for me, the shorter double strand gets shorter and shorter so I have to keep adjusting it. Major pain and totally not glamorous to have to adjust jewelry in public.

Also, for a long necklace, I like for it to pop and provide a continuous flow to the eye. When I wore this 16 motif, there was so much chain, I had to "look" for the motifs, and my eye was just all over the place. Not the glamorous "20s flapper" look I was envisioning.
Because this necklace is mostly chain, in my opinion, it gets lost with anything except for a solid top. I wore stripes when I tried on this necklace, and honestly, I had to keep looking for the motifs and I could barely see the chain.

I think for you, with all your concerns and a new baby, you will not wear it often.
Long necklaces are easy to wear, but you have to be mentally aware you are wearing one.
As in, when you reach for things across a table or when you bend down, you need to mentally be aware of where your long necklace will swing. I have had my long necklaces swing into a birthday cake as well as get caught in the dishwasher rack. It's not tragic of course, but you just need to be on guard mentally.

If you like long necklaces, a 20 motif is gorgeous, and I think a 20 motif pops more than this 16 motif because the motifs on a 20 are much closer together creating more of a statement look around the torso.

If you are considering a bracelet, I would get the WG Perlee Clover. It's a gorgeous bracelet.

Maybe your family member has a 20 motif or Perlee Clover in the collection you could choose from.

Hope this helps, and congratulations on your new baby!

Thank you all! I also found that my dermatitis around the neck is making wearing heavy chain impossible. When I double up, I get rashes :(

So I exchanged for the brand new vintage Cartier bracelet. I already have the Perlee Clover, but the old piece is so much sturdy. I love it!!!

With a new baby and a relatively low key life style and casual dress style, I think the bracelet is a much better choice!

Thanks for your help! Here is the bracelet in case there are any Cartier lovers here too!

Hello it happens I tried this one in the boutique. Yes they can shorten it a bit. I asked because :
- one stranded it is really long and the SA told me it is ok with long dresses
- two stranded I have the feeling that the magic motif is just a bit low with my breast and they told me they could shorten it a bit
