My DH and I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in a few months. I am curious what others have asked for and/or received for their 10th? Engagement ring diamond upgrade? Colored stone ring? Other jewelry? I know it all depends on the individuals, but just wondering what folks have done.

For reference, I have an almost 2 carat round solitare of very good quality, 2 carat diamond studs as well as hoops, several Cartier (love bracelet, trinity ring and necklaces), VCA (vintage Alhambra earrings, ring and necklaces) and Bulgari (rings, earrings and necklaces) pieces... Hmmh, reading this makes me think DH may think I already have enough:)! Anyways, would still love your suggestions!

Thanks, ladies! I do have a diamond eternity band that I received for my 5th anniversary. I don't wear watches and aside from signature pieces from name brand jewelry houses, we buy diamond and other stones from an independent jeweler as I think the markup is too high at retail stores. The budget is 25k and under!

Also, not a huge fan of the diamond bracelet but maybe a diamond bangle? DH would probably think it is not a significant enough piece for the 10th anniversary though.

What colored stone rings would be a good buy at the 25k price point? Or should I try for a larger size diamond ring?

How about 10-15 carat diamond necklace?

If you want to upgrade to a diamond ring larger than 2 carat, say 3 carat, 25k will not get you a high quality stone which I believe is important for a large stone. I would save that for the next big anniversary.

Thanks, Moirai. I think you might mean 1.0-1.5 carat diamond necklace, no:)? That could work, but was thinking I could take my old engagement diamond plus the two small studs I have from before to make a 3 stone diamond necklace if I upgrade the engagement stone....

I guess the stone upgrade will be even more than 35k--yikes!! What price range would getting an about 3 carat diamond be? DH is happy to go a bit more if it makes me happy but I don't want to get near 50k territory, if that makes sense!

I do mean 10 to 15 carat total weight eternity diamond necklace. I like the graduated necklace so larger diamonds are in the front. This is more for dressier occasions.

As you mentioned, you could get 1-1.5 solitary diamond pendant which would allow you to wear everyday.

I suggest you check with your jeweler to get an idea of cost of 3 carat. It is less expensive if you buy a stone that is little less than 3 carat, like 2.7 - 2.9 and still have a stone looking like 3 carat. You currently have a nice size stone and IMO if you are going to upgrade and spend that kind of money, I would go at least a carat larger to make it worth while.

Thanks for the tips! I agree that upgrading is not worth it if not appreciable bigger stone... I will check with our jeweler re: 3ish carat pricing, but would love to hear what others have found to be the price range?

Lovely, akimoto! I am leaning towards the colored stone ring idea of the 3 carat diamond ends up being too much... Maybe better to wait until another occasion for perhaps even bigger diamond;)! Does anyone know of resources to see examples of different settings for say emeralds or other colored stones?
