Thanks for posting but this is very subjective and frankly boring. There are more elegant and/or timeless bags out there (Celine cabas will nver go out of style, what about Fendi BTW, or YSL monogram?. Of course some are considered ‘classic’ by majority, some are ‘classic’ because of their function, or shape...I don’t completely agree with her picks ;)

I actually really enjoyed this video, I agreed with most items in this video! And I really liked that she brought up the Prada backpack, I don't hear this talked about as often with other youtubers now but this item is still very much in demand-- maybe not in the U.S. where I am now, but I know back home, resellers are often looking for this and they sell quite easily still. Thanks for sharing.

I thought I'd share this video by clothing designer Justine Leconte.

What do you think of the vid. Which bags do you think are the best investments from various brands?

Im not seeing many Celine Luggage anymore even in the smaller sizes. I think if I'd bought one I'd still be carrying it though.

I don't think an Hermes Kelly is the best investment at H for many although I have one and it's totally precious to me. For usage it's not the most easy H bag.

IMO, surely the best bag investment is never going to be a well known bag. If a bag's never 'in' it's never 'out'. Love my under the radar bags most of all, and never have to think of resale.

I love Justine Leconte’s videos — she does a great job of coming across as your cool French girlfriend who doesn’t take it all too seriously. That said, I’d give this video a mixed review.

I was nodding at the H Birkin and Kelly, the LV Speedy, and the Chanel 255 (although the photos she showed were of the Classic Flap, not the 255/Relssue). I didn’t agree on the Celine tote — I think it’s an “it bag” that has passed the height of its popularity (but then, the robot face never appealed to me). The Prada backpack was a surprise, but one I loved seeing. OTOH, I was surprised not to see the Balenciaga moto bags — IMO, they are a rare example of a bag that transitioned from trend to classic. Also surprised not to see any Fendi, especially the Peekaboo.

I guess it depends on your definition of “investment” — is a good investment a bag you’ll use and love for years to come, or one with a high resale value? I love my Kellys , but my Evelynes are the H bags I use the most. It really depends on what your buying habits are and what’s important to you.

I think that the video works well for what it is, it's one person's opinion mixed in with a decent amount of facts and some well thought out consideration, laid out in a systematic and easy to understand way. It's not the end all of bag hiérarchies.

I think it's important to know what to expect with these videos. As pointed out she's a bit out of her element when it comes to handbags compared to clothing design. This was a highly requested video by her followers and she's not the bbc. I also felt like her non holy trinity recommendations were a bit dated.

As far as I know, the bags that hold their value the best are either Hermès, Chanel or Vuitton and the branded or highly recognizable bags hold their value much better than other products. Only Hermès items are regularly auctioned off on dedicated auctions. It's not the first time I see kelly mentioned as more classic or iconic than a Birkin and I'm not surprised especially if she's trying to reflect a "French" point of view.

As for me i think she could've stopped after Chanel, Vuitton and Hermès. The other ones have either not been around long enough or have not proven to be of similar lasting value and popularity. Prada right now is really not doing that well in terms of perception and other than the prada brand you're left with a pretty basic nylon backpack. So if the brand luster wears off...

I think the selection she made is "fair" for what it is, I can't think of any other contenders that are on the same category as h c and lv just based on what resellers focus on and the resale price.
I guesz it's worth considering that some of the bags mentioned here may not be as popular in continental Europe / Berlin / France as they are in Asia, the US or even the UK.
