I make time to write this review after a year of my procedures because this forum and the people here helped me a lot before I made my decision to have these surgeries last year.
II will share my experince from the beginning I started my journey,, and the recovery process in general only . I will add some points that I think iit is good to share. I will try to make a thorough review but not too long.
1. Make an online consultation and booking of f2f consultation.
After I read and asked a lot about he plastic surgery clinics and the procedures that I want to have, I contacted two clinics only that I think suits my need, style , and budget I started to contact these two clinics in January, to book a face to face appointment and surgery in April.
Both of the clinic gave me a fast and profesional reply. I sent them my pictures and I told them which areas of my face that become my concern to get fixed. They gave me a clear explanation of what needs to be done to fix my eyes and my nose, and also the estimation of the cost for those procedures. It was easy to communicate with both clinics because they have a staff that speak English.
I got a same advice on what procedures that I need and roughly similar cost estimation so I made a booking to do my f2f consultation for April 8th, 2023. I put a deposit in Ilac clinic to book the surgery date on April 9 coz I just want to make sure in my 2 weeks stay in Korea I could get the surgery done (and also I have a friend that gave me a recommendation about this clinic and Dr.Ko). The deposit money was 300k won, and they said it was not refundable , but if I cancel my surgery with them, I could use my deposit money for other treatment (they have skin treatment like botox, filler, PRP, and Rejuran).
2. Face to face consulatation.
I had my f2f consultations on the same day. I don't really remember how long the f2f consultation was. My first consultation was with Ilac. They chosed Dr.Ko for me when I said that I just want to have a natural but nicer look (they asked me during my online consultation in January). Dr. Ko explained about the procedure to remove my eyebags, and showed me different size of eyelids that I could choose. As for my rhinoplasty, I showed him the pic of the nose shape that I want. Coz I told Wendy (the person that I had chat in their Kakao), that I don't like their Rhino pictures on Ilac instagram. I don't want to have a long and pointy nose, coz I think it doesn't suit me. Wendy told me to bring the picture, and show it to the doctor on my f2f consultation. During the consultation i decided to have a thread lift and lipposuction on my cheek too, coz my face shape was a bit square.
The consultation was quite thorough , and I got a good impression about the clinic, the staffs, and the doctor.
It was a good consultation because Dr Ko speaks English so I could ask questions directly and he explained it clearly.
My other consultation with the other clinic was shorter than my consultation in Ilac. I had to wait quite long for the doctors to come, and looked like they were busy. First doctor explained about surgery for my eyes, and the other doctor then came to explain about my rhinoplasty. Both of them were nice, and look smart. But the consultation was a bit rush, and they didn't speak English. Their in house transalator was there translating the consultation. Their price was a few million higher than the price that Ilac gave me. But at the end I chosed to have my surgeries in Ilac coz for some reasons I trust Dr.Ko more (no rushing, and more thorough during the consultation, and easy to communicate).
3 . The surgery
I had my surgeries the next day. It took around 10 hours surgery, and I stayed around 2 hours in the recovery room before i went back to my hotel. I didn't feel pain at all, I just felt discomfort coz I couldn't breath trough my nose (for 3 days). For the next few days, I got some bruises and swelling on my face, but still no pain, and I could go here and there on my third day after surgery. My vision was a bit blurry for a few days too. I got a deswelling treatment in the clinic for 2 or 3 times before I had my stiches and my nose cast removed on the 8th day. It was my last visit and consultation/check with Dr.Ko. The whole process was easy, and all the staffs and Dr Ko treated me very well and profesional. They were nice and friendly, and no rush.
4 The recovery process
My whole recovery process was easy too. No pain at all from the beginning, and on the third week, all the bruised gone, only a little bit of swelling, and some scars under my eyes, and my eyebrows.
I came on the second time in November to have a breastlift and face fatgraft. The fatgraft really made my face look better and nicer I think. It gave some volume on my face, especially on my forehead. My frieds said I look fresh n even younger after this procedure. Actually my face and skin looked much better already after my first surgery, coz the thread lift for some reasons make my skin looks so much smoother (stimulate the collagen).
After the fatgraft I felt no pain on my face, but I could feel a bit of discomfort for a few weeks on my thighs where the fat was taken. The lipposuction on my arms and back gave me a lot of bruises on my upper arms. Both arms were swelling and it hurts to lift and bend my arms for around 2 months. Not hurts so bad, but I couldn't tie my hair and put on my jacket without help. I had to wear a compression garment for 24 hours for a few weeks to reduce the discomfort and to help with my recovery too. The compression is very confortable to wear, even to wear it when I slept. It was tight but didn't make me feel suffocated to wear.
In general, all the procedure that I had was easy and not painful. I just got some issues on my recovery process on my breastlift. Like a few weeks after my surgery, I got some stinging feeling on the knot of my sticthes on my right breast. And also got some rash from a bit of loose thread, also on my right breast. I contacted Dr.Ko and asked about my concern regarding this, and he explained it to me that it was part of recovery process and nothing to worry, and it was not a nerve issue.
5. Personal thoughts.
It is quite a journey, coz at the beginning I was thinking to have a surgery to remove my eyebags only, but at the end I end up had quite some procedures Some of the reasons were because I feel the recovery was easy and not painful at all. I trust my doctor too, because he always answers my questions, and pays attention to my concern before n after surgery.
I am aware, that when I decided to have the surgery, there is a possibility that some problems might happen, and also doctor might make a mistake, or there might be an issue during the recovery. I set a reasonable expectation and I communicate clearly with my doctor, and make sure I get a doctor that is easy to reach and communicate.
For me personally, I chose to have my procedures with a doctor that can speak English because in case I have some problems or concerns, I can contact him directly, and so far I think I am in a good hand.
I also think that some of the reasons my recovery was easy because the skill of my doctor. The stiches look very neat, and all the scars were healed in a few months and leave no trace of scars at all. My result look quite natural, that my friends said, they would not know that I had some surgeries on my face if i didn't tell them. They said they noticed that my face look nicer and fresher, but there is no sign of a plastic surgery. This is a kind of a result that I want, no dramatic change that makes me look like a different person. I just want to look like me but in a better and nicer version😊, and Dr Ko really did a good job helping me achieving my expectation. Even better than that, I still can ask him questions post op, and he still answers all my concerns and questions.
As some of you know, that his new clinic (Zero One PS clinic) will be in Gangnam area too. If you look for a hotel near the clinic, you can check O'cloud hotel. This hotel is easy to reach from the airport. Based on my experience it is better to stay in Gangnam area if you do the surgery coz you will need to visit the clinic quite often to have some treatments before your last check (around 3 times in 7 to 9 days I think).
