0.38 ctw Diamond Studs, guardian backings?

Was going to opt for Cartier earrings until I realized the diamond studs weren’t certified until a certain price point (and that was above Tiffany’s). I maxed out my budget for sizing, (0.38 ctw, 0.19 carat each) and higher clarity (VVS2), and they came with guardian backings! Is this normal? I expected the butterfly backings so I was pleasantly surprised

Thank you so much!! I got them for my mom, so I can double surprise her with the 0.56 carat necklace as well they’ll be worn as a set! I agree with you, the guardian backings should be much more secure as well. Totally didn’t expect them! Thank you again, that’s very sweet.

When I bought my dbty studs last year, the SA told me that 0.28ctw (0.14 each) is the biggest size with butterfly backing. Above 0.3 ctw earrings have backings like yours.

I specifically asked for the biggest carat with butterfly backings, because I don't have patience with guardian backings.

I think the range is only for diamond studs. I have 0.39ctw dbty drop earrings with butterfly backings. I bought it years ago, so I don't know whether Tiffany changed it recently.

Oh wow!! I specifically wanted screw or guardian backings because my mom works in the healthcare field. She said she wore her butterfly backing earrings and they loosened over the day (with surgical caps on & off). I wonder if they can just change backings (to either guardian or butterfly) for any carat size. And if so, if there’s a fee. I took a look at your DBTY collection, and the 0.39 ctw drop earrings are stunning :O do you wear them daily?

Sorry to ask but aren’t you afraid of loosing an earring with the butterfly backings that’s my biggest fear

I often change my earrings and rarely wear them at home, so butterfly backings are perfect for me. I have temperamental earlobes, so I cannot wear earrings with thicker posts.

I never lose my earrings so far. I also use silicon backings in addition of the butterfly backings when needed.
