Using Saks gift card on phone order in stores ?

Has anybody able to use the Saks gift card on a phone order
with a SA in Saks store ? My SA told me gift card cannot be
used for phone orders, is that true ?

Sadly, this is true. I tried to do this before but the SA said that she had to actually swipe the card through the register.

ITA - You have to punch in the numbers for an online order. Is there a reason they can't do the same? I have the feeling you were lucky enough to get an SA who didn't want to be bothered
