Ok I have all the brushes needed for a nice look, but am having difficulity blending the shades nicely. I have all the brushes, but still find that I have a friggin line and it won't blend nicely if I use UDPP. Help!

Keep a clean fluffy dome shaped brush for blending. Apply the shadows with your other brushes, and then use the blending brush (MAC 224 is my fave) to blend using a windshield wiping motion for the crease, then small circles to radiate and smooth the color over.

You can also apply shadow with the 224, and it normally never leaves a harsh line.

Do you load the brushes up with lots of shadow? The less you use, the easier to apply and blend. You can build the color a little at the time, and touch up after blending.

I have that trouble with my Ultima II primer! I think it kind of helps if you start with your lighter colors and then add the darker colors last. It's the opposite of how I usually do it, but it's hard to blend otherwise...

perhaps you could try layering the darker shadows over the lighter shadows? i always apply a neutral base shadow over primer because if i don't, any darker shadow just grips onto my eyelid and refuses to budge. the neutral-colored eyeshadow base helps everything to move around :P.

also, a blending brush like this really helps

Can you PM me that huge list you posted of the craft store brushes that match MAC brushes?? I can't find the thread you posted it in!! TIA:flowers:

Wow great info
Thanks:yes:

ITA with jc's advise..u could also put face powder on your eyelid after you put on the UDPP but before the shadow..
the same thing happened to me with UDPP and if you put the powder over it and then start applying the eyeshadows it helps 100%

o my gosh this is exactly what i do when applying shadows!! like you said, if you apply a dark 'colored' shadow right after the primer, it just sticks to your lids and wouldn't blend!! i have done this numerous times so now i do use a neutral base first (patina in mac) before blending in the colored ones....

If you use a darker colour on the outer v, concentrate most of the colour there and with the tiny bit of eyeshadow left on the brush, apply it where you want it to be most blended and with the least amount of colour.

I don't use the windshield wiper motion because I can't really do it without the colours ending up looking muddy so I go in one direction only and just lightly keep sweeping until it's blended the way I want it to look. If it looks too light add the tiniest bit of the darker colour and blend until it looks like the way you want it. If you use a darker colour over a lighter one it might end up looking kind of ashy.

If you use your eyeshadow wet, it'll be harder to blend but if both are applied wet, I find them easier to blend than if one is dry and one is wet.

If you use a fluffier brush to apply a hard to blend colour, it'll be less pigmented and easier to blend and you can just keep adding on until you like the way it looks.
