The MA regular is narrower than the MAM? These are the dimensions off of the RM site:

Mini:
12.5 in x 6.5 in x 7 in
Am I reading them in the wrong order? Usually the lowest number is the bottom width, right? If this is true then the regular MA probably fits better as a shoulder bag... Just a thought!
