Sounds interesting! I'll keep us all posted on this one - another hopefully great show from BRAVO!!!

Bravo Green-Lights Reality Dance Series
Step It Up to Follow in the Footsteps of Top Chef, Project Runway
By Alex Weprin -- Broadcasting & Cable, 9/10/2007 4:26:00 PM

Bravo gave the green light to Step It Up, a dance reality competition.

The show will take wanna-be professional dancers and challenge them to master an assortment of dance styles, from Broadway to burlesque, ballet to ballroom.

“Step It Up pulls back the curtain on one of the most lively arts and one of America’s favorite pastimes -- dance,” said Frances Berwick, executive vice president of programming and production for Bravo. “Like other creative professions, dance inherently has all the ingredients of competition and drama that make Bravo shows so compelling to watch.”

Step It Up will be produced by Jane Lipsitz and Dan Cutforth of Magical Elves, the production company behind Bravo reality hits Top Chef and Project Runway.

“We believe there is an emotional, dramatic and visually exciting side of the dance world that has yet to be explored,” Lipsitz said. “We are very excited to take the same organic and passionate approach to dance as we do to cooking in Top Chef and fashion in Runway.”

Casting is currently underway for the show in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta. Bravo has not announced when the show will debut on the network.

You know, I used to think Bravo was ahead of the reality show curve. Project Runway and Top Chef were/are such a big hit, but nobody else had a show like these. Now I feel like Bravo is copying everyone else! That supermodel show and now a dance show? I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet! lol!

I know! I was thinking like "Dancing With the Stars".....and that other dance show....you know, the one with the judge lady who had the LOUDEST laugh?...oh - "So You Think You Can Dance?" or something like that.....

That's what I was thinking too. There also the one called Dance Wars with Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Taglioni.

Right! But I'm really hoping for is Bravo's classy spin on things. I mean, who would have thought that "Shear Genius" would have been so wonderful!? A program about cutting hair? So I hope hope that this one is a little more entertaining. I'm sure it'll be filled with drama though - like you really know the contestants, rather than just watching them compete every week like on the regular network channels.....?

Premieres April 3.

I don't mind another Bravo show, but I reallllly don't like the host Elizabeth Barkely. I mean, that movie "Show Girls:throwup:".......

Poor EB can't escape the Showgirls fiasco 10+ years later! :Push:

Are these dancers all going to live together a la the Real World? drama drama drama...:jammin:

Well, the season premiere is like at 11:00 pm. after Make Me A Supermodel. I don't think I'm going to catch it tonight but I do HOPE that I have some chums to discuss this fiasco...I mean show...with tomorrow or even the next day!

OMG! I'm loving this show so far!

Its better then other dance shows - because its looking at the REAL world of professional dance!! I love all of the chreographers they've pulled for this show!! And most of the dancers are working in the real world!

I appreciate the other shows making their own rules and all that, but I feel like this is the first real look into the "real" dance world!! Yay!!

 From me! I'm only halfway through the first show I TIVO'ed and I put it on a Season Pass.

Oh so thank goodness I have some followers to this thread!!!

I don't have a clue about Elizabeth B. As if that soft-porn movie of hers made her a dancer! Hardly. I hated that gyrating mess - that whole movie was a train wreck!

I will watch......and hope that people actually dance instead of looking like they're having twitches...which is what I thought during the first show when they were asked to perform on the fly in that club. Ugh.

I just watch for the personalities. And the good dancing. Someone gets hurt unfortunately. But someone ALWAYS gets hurt in these shows - remember Shannon in Make Me A Supermodel? And did it stop her? Noooo.......! :boxing:

Elizabeth Berkley needs to be replaced on that show as host. She is an idiot making a blanket statement on the show about a whole race of people should know how to hip hop. What a Jack***.
