The UK B-bag Club

Daisymac - I think you have met the same guy that I talked to on the phone. In my case he sneered at green bags. Did he have a slight accent. If so, it is definitely him (Gratzi).

I moved on to other branches who seemed to be a bit more open minded.

Oh yes that sounds like him!! When he said there would be no more colours I couldnt help myself and said "oh how boring!" and he really wasnt impressed! Where do you go for your bal bags? I might ring a few stores tomorrow and see what they are expecting. I will report back if I have any success!! xx

He didn't like me either because I said the same thing.

I found the staff at Selfridges Trafford particularly obliging.

I also had a good discussion with a lady on the phone at the Matches website. She was very keen to talk to me about the new colours and styles.

I've just had today a very disappointing phone conversation with the Balenciaga specialist in Selfridges, Birmingham. She's a delightful lady, who did ring me up to give me an update about pre-collection and collection colours, but she said that Selfridges' buyers this year are concentrating on GH or SH bags and they have not purchased RH bags in unusual colours . I was especially interested in violet and sienna bags. She is very knowledgeable about styles of bags and I've found her really helpful. Give her a call, if you'd like more detail. Her name is Mala Summan at the Birmingham store. She also knew today what the London store was likely to be having in stock. Hope this helps.

I am keen on the idea violet but also think that jaune might be a brilliant buy and that is the colour that I am finding it hard to locate a supplier for in the UK.

Please keep me posted if you have news on either colour.

yeah i've come across him too, he was the one who told me that they didn't have any makeup clutches (yeah still bringing that up, lol!;)) and he was really haughty and clearly considered himself an expert, then it turns out another PF'er was in store that day and they had them in the sale for £100, and they had them full price in black for £200! moron, will never forgive him! He was why i was inspired to start this club so UK PF'ers could help each other out!

I spoke to a lady in Harvey Nichols Edinburgh yesterday and she was incredibly helpful even went off to get a measuring tape to measure a bag for me and i didn't even ask her to! Harrods SA's are really helpful too.

Also here is the telephone number for the Selfridges in Birmingham so you don't have to go through the switchboard:

Selfridges Birmingham: 0121 600 6932

Thanks for the info abowron. I called Matches today and they have no news about when their new bags are coming in. Then I called Harrods and spoke to a really lovely and very helpful lady called Valerie who told me that all her violets were pre-ordered so were already sold. She said she was going to see if she could order more and took my number so heres hoping. She didnt mention the yellow and was quite suprised to hear there was one. She did say that she had seen the new season colours (spring/summer I guess) and said that there was "a lot of colour coming." She mentioned pink, magenta and sky blue. Sounds very exciting. I think I might want one of each however DH might disagree!! x

Hey UKers - what leather moisturisers and water proofers are you using?

Are you importing this Apple stuff or using home grown potions.

....or do you just leave these bags alone and they are OK.

I never sprayed nothing until I had an oak Mulberry Brynmore and it was grossly disfigured by the first drop of moisture that hit it.

I am now a major user of Collonil Waterstop spray.

To be honest I am far too terrified to put anything on my bags. I would be interested if anyone has any ideas. I have read the thread about looking after your bags and there are quite a few tips on moisturising the leather but I am a bit nervous. There is also something on ebay which takes the oil out of the handles when they are marked. I havent waterproofed my bags either which is really stupid considering the weather we are having. I found myself coming out of the cinema last week into pouring rain and wrapping my twiggy in my jacket!! The kids didnt even bat an eyelid, they are used to it. I must remember to put a plastic bag in my bbags to use instead! I got back to the car soaked but my bag still looked great!!! x

I have a bit of a struggle between keeping my profuse hair and my bags dry and the bags have begun to win! (Still - I am classed as mad by my Old Duck anyway.)

Psst - where are you in Herts? I used to live between Cambs and Royston (Cambs county but Herts postal address). Had to return a lot last year to clear and sell parental home. Now too sad to go that way for a long time.

Oh sorry to hear about the sad journeys to Herts. I am just on the borders of herts/north London in Hadley Wood. Keep reading the "spotted page" hoping to be seen but there arent many bbags in my neck of the woods although when I venture into London I have a great time spotting everyone elses!! By the way spoke to a lovely lady in Harrods called Valerie about the new colours (violet/juane) and she said that all her violet bags were sold as they were pre ordered and that she wasnt expecting any Juane! She did however say she had been on a buying trip to see the new season colours and there was "a lot of colour coming" She mentioned sky blue, magenta and bubble gum pink. I am So excited and it is only July!!!

Don't be too sad for me. I am afraid that it is the by-product of my 'orphaned' state that has funded my bag habit so far. .....AND IT HAD BETTER STOP (...until Boxing Day anyway). Glad to hear that violet is meant to be sold out - that might stop me. So - everyone keeps saying they won't stock Jaune do they. I suspect that this might prove to be auspicious later one.
