Is it wrong to want so many LVs?

I'm doing my very best not to buy more bags after more than a decade of taking a break from the LV obsession but I can't seem to help myself. I'm definitely a shopaholic but manage my finances well, so it's not that I can't have a lot of LVs but the rational part of my brains reminds me that I have enough. I think a big part of this renewed love for LV is that since we can't travel, I may as well enjoy something nice at home instead.

I thought I'd stop at the PA and Geronimos this year, but I just bought a DE double zip yesterday as I felt it would work better as a crossbody than the PA, and it's dressier than the Geronimos. I already have a Montorgeuil PM and Noe GM for work/shopping, a Belen for going out at night, and a few other smaller Mono bags which I don't want to sell for sentimental reasons, including a vintage Speedy 25.

My plan was to just collect SLGs from now on, but if truth be told, I'd love to add a Felicie and more Speedys to the collection.

How does everyone else justify their growing collection? Is there a point when you've had enough?

It's not WRONG but if you're buying out of boredom, impulse, "might as well," etc you may come to regret it later. I find this to be especially true if I buy a bunch of same-brand or similar style things in one go... you feel the frenzy in the moment but a year later you might be onto something else and wish you had just spent that money elsewhere instead. Just my thoughts.

I set limits for myself, like max 1 luxury item $1k+ a year, and try to stick to it no matter how much I may be dying for a certain item! It's like clockwork for me... I buy a purse and instantly I'm looking to get my 2nd one from the same brand... same with a watch... shoes... anything. I get that collector's itch. But I always regret it when I go down this route so I've learned to stop myself.

I'm trying to be happy with what I've got. I love my collection, but I do sometimes go through periods of wanting more! The rational side of me knows that I have more than enough, and that sometimes I don't even use a lot of my items as often as I should (realistically, I could majorly downsize and keep just my most used pieces) but I do love everything in my current collection. The not so rational, LV-obsessed and collector side of me says "you can never have too much". It's a constant battle!

I always ask myself if I really need it. Sometimes it stops me, sometimes doesn't haha.

I think practicing gratitude aids us in managing our consumption habits. While that isn't to say that you do not practice gratitude, it is so easy to get caught up in the hunt instead of recognizing how lucky we are to even be able to discuss purchasing more luxury items while people are experiencing financial hardships as a result of the pandemic. I saw a provincially-based survey and 52 percent of people said that if they had $200 less in their accounts they wouldn't be able to pay their bills. When I look at my items, I feel an immense sense of pride for the work that I've done and how blessed I am to have these gorgeous, frivilous items in my home. I hope I didn't come off as preachy but these are important issues to stress.

It isn't bad to want more luxury items - in fact, I hope that you are able to continue to purchase them as they make you happy. Our happiness is # 1.

I have a rule that I can only net add one bag per year, meaning if I buy three, I need to do something with two. This allows for me to grow my collection, but in a metered fashion. It also allows me to buy more than one a year, while preventing me from just amassing a collection.

FYI: there is no help for you... and the rest of us! I am very undecided about the nano speedy having never seen one or anyone carrying one before doing my chase... it seems like a toy... So do I need it, absolutely not, no one needs more than one or any LV for that matter. But madly thinking about it (Nano). I get your point...

I also want speedys even I already a speedy B25 DE. but I want to avoid vachetta on speedy, so I am waiting if LV release no vachetta speedy again.

So far, I don't have any bags on my wishlist, purse peace now.

I do want some SLGS, but not I rather save for a full-sized bag.

Usually when I am tempted to want a new item in my collectio. I just waited out. And later on I realize I don’t want it once that lust goes away. lol

One bag a year sounds so restrictive, especially when you're on TPF, but if you think about it... even buying one bag a year, you'd end up with A LOT of bags over a lifetime. And of course you'll sell some during that time but there's usually a loss there anyway. I feel overwhelmed just thinking of that buy and sell process over a lifetime. There's so much waste in it.

So how about use the one bag a year rule as a way to stomp out lust or impulse buys? If you still want it a year later, it'll probably still be there. If you're like me, you'll be glad you didn't buy it a year later.

When I think I'm DONE BUYING, I seem to want a few more especially the iconic classic ones which seem so hard to find now!
I'm also trying to think ahead for any that I might want to give as gifts!
Prices keep going up and many are so hard to find or discontinued!

Why is it, I seem to want the ones that seem hard to get now and passed them up in the past?
I like SpeedyBs and just until recently thought the Classic Speedys are very nice!
But, I have to watch so I'm not just building a collection. Start to use more of the bags I already have and enjoy them!

I don't look at my collection as "growing", but as "changing". When I find I no longer use a piece, I sell it off to make room for newer things. That's how I "justify" this LV "habit"
