Coach Rehab and Rescue Club

How do you (and others) find these flea markets and estate sales etc?

I might be visiting SoCal this summer and have Goodwill and other thrift stores on my list to visit as well as picking up CPR and BR.

I usually go to thrift stores and consignment stores. I have not been to a flea market in ages but I think I will definitely go this spring. Around here yard/garage/estate sales are popular. This is where good stuff is found before it goes to the thrift stores. Just have to haul my butt out of bed early on Saturday mornings!

@LunaSilver did you have any colour loss using Saphir lotion? I had dye come off when using it on my casino and a non-coach card case  :panic:
Depend on each bag, even with leather CPR sometimes the dye bleed too, for me Saphir leather balm is about the same level as leather CPR with color bleed. I just kept on massage the bag till the conditioner is absorbed, and don’t notice any color fading from that once dry.
ETA: dye color also bleed with black rock too.
More opinions welcome! I just take that as normal for rehabbing.

I rehabbed my daypack over the long weekend! The interior was filthy & it had the worst cigarette smell ever. I did 2 extra vinegar baths after my regular dunk as suggested to me by @houseof999 a while back & Im happy to report the smell is gone :yahoo: . The corners had fading, I used a tiny dab of black resolene to fix them. 4 coats of CPR & 1 of Renapur

Thanks - I hadn't had it happen with Chamberlain's or Coach's products so I'm glad to hear it's a normal thing to happen. The non-Coach card case is still rubbing off but the Casino isn't rubbing anymore, which is the more important item! Haha.

What is going on with the Leather CPR people?
Right now, it looks like no one else is selling it but the manufacturers. It's not a bad deal if you are in the States, a flat shipping rate, whether you buy one bottle or two jugs. I just ordered some to be shipped to Toronto, hoping that I wouldn't get any surprises when it went through customs, as they don't say who the shipper is.
Just got an email saying the order is cancelled.
I've tried contacting the customer service department to no avail.
How are other Canadians dealing with this? My poor bags are thirsty!

I bought mine in store last year at Bed Bath and Beyond in Oakvillle. You might want to check your local store. It is now out of stock online.

I ended up ordering some Renapur to try it out directly from UK. I did not know they made it in Sandlewood or Lavender scent! Order the lavender to try it out.

For some reason Renapur website says to not use on fully aniline leather. Is vintage coach not fully aniline leather??? I hear so much of people using it on vintage coach....

Haha good luck! Thanks - are these yard/garage/estate sales listed online or something? How do you know where to show up? I want to maximise my time in the states. Haha!

I saw that too! I took maintenance advice from @Busykitty who used it on my gorgeous red casino and also trusted in the other experienced rehabbers on this thread who use it. I took the chance and it looks great on my vintage Coaches.

I got excited last month as I just happened upon the bed, bath and beyond half off everything closing sale in downtown Toronto. Nothing. Phoned other stores they said they don't carry it any more.

They let go of their archivist, it seems to me he would have been a shoo in to comb through all the archive bags and records to authenticate.
I agree, vintage Coach is hot. I was listening to a very pleasant Youtuber who has a bunch of luxury, lots of LV, talk how much she is enjoying vintage Coach. I thought man, she can drop $75 or $100 on preloved vintage Coach on line or in consignment shops and not bat an eye. God bless flea markets!
The archivist wasn't as fanatical about vintage Coach as most of us. When he was presented with a style no one had seen before, he didn't seem excited and could offer no information.

I was told by someone that Debi was told by Coach certain information about the fonts Coach used in their creeds. She also had misinformation about certain construction details. The authenticators on the forum know that what she was told isn't true. I don't have a lot of faith in an authentication service provided by Coach.

You might be disappointed in SoCal thrift stores. From what I've seen lately, Goodwill stores pull all the good stuff and sell it online. LA area thrift stores are pretty bad. I almost never find anything there. There are a few good stores in Van Nuys. I've gotten quite a few things in Escondido. There is a flea market a few times a year in the Rose Bowl, but it costs so much to get in and park that it really isn't worth it.

I was visiting LA for Christmas 2019, just before the world changed. Went into the downtown Santa Monica Goodwill on Christmas Eve and hit the jackpot! Must have been at least 10 vintage bags. Had to leave most behind. Didn't have room in my luggage. Still kicking myself.
