Will eBay let me return when seller says no returns? Fake bag

I haven’t received the bag yet, but there are a few red flags that the bag I’m getting is fake. It’s a Gucci tote that I paid $1200 for. It was directly withdrawn from my bank account through PayPal. First red flag: When buying, I always search for US only because I live in the US. I feel better if it comes from the US rather dealing with international shipping. She shipped the bag UPS and the listing said it was coming from New York. First, UPS said it would be here in 2 days, which was today. Today I log on to tracking, and it says its coming from Bulgaria and is now delayed. Second red flag: Another Buyer when leaving a review, said the bag she received was fake (two authentications). I didn’t look at the comments from over 6 months ago. Third red flag: she doesn’t allow returns, but at the bottom of the listing, she states that all of her bags are authentic and backed by a 100% money back guarantee. Fourth: there were 81 other bids on it. When I looked after the auction, all of the buds were private. I feel like she was bidding up the bag herself maybe?

When I receive the bag, I plan on having it authenticated. If it turns out to be a replica, what are the steps I take through eBay? Do I have any chance of getting my money back, and returning the bag to her? What if she never signs for it? Sorry...my Mom died last month and for some reason, my anxiety is through the roof. Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

$1,200 that seems a lot of money to commit buying from someone you can't at least put in 90% trust. This seller seems wouldn't have many reviews? and if she/he is selling fakes or problematic high price items, his/her account wouldn't been established for a long time? Your only chance may have to wait till you get the item or till the item says been delivered then open the case.

AFAIK, on eBay, you can return the item and get a full refund if it is Significantly Not As Described (which it certainly would be if proven fake), regardless of whether the seller themselves allows returns or not. You're also protected by Paypal, in case eBay doesn't take your side.

I'm sorry for your loss. Please don't worry about things that haven't happened yet. If the bag turns out to be fake, you most likely will be able to return it and get your money back.

I've found a ring of Bulgarian sellers with fake Guccis. They have built their feedback numbers but "buying and selling" to and from each other.

Is your seller one of the following?

I wonder if this seller buys from one of those sellers.

For the record, although in reading your OP, I thought you might be jumping the gun. However after finding the listing, find the seller and her history and finding posts made here on TPF, I'm not comfortable.

Interestingly, the seller, now known as sorciere_blanche changed her ID in July (previously sorciereblanche), not too long after having been found with fraudulent/forged Etinceler certificates.

Oh wow. Thank you so, so much. I feel sick to my stomach. What do I need to do to prove this is a fake? (Will a written statement (emailed) be enough to satisfy eBay? Anyone recommend one authenticator over another? I’m so mad at myself! Fingers crossed I can get my money back. The listing itself doesn’t say it authentic. The seller just has it as the last line of the listing.

If it hasn't been shipped, request that the seller cancel.

If it's been shipped, verify authenticity with crisp clear pictures. (It could be that this seller mixes authentic and fake and this could possibly be a genuine item.)

If it's deemed as fake, you can open a SNAD dispute for not authentic. Seller will be required to supply return shipping label at her cost and you can return. (It MUST include signature confirmation.) If seller denies the return or doesn't respond to dispute, escalate and let ebay close the case.

Don't lose sleep stressing over this. As unfair as it sometimes seems to sellers, ebay is considerably pro-buyer and you won't lose money.

If/when you file dispute with eBay, mention the fact that seller’s address as listed on eBay is in Brooklyn NY, not Bulgaria. That’s another ebay violation to document. Verify her return residential address is legit and not a vacant lot.

I typically use A4U via FB Messenger to authenticate, they’ll ask for all necessary pics to document so you can use the same ones to eBay.

Thank you. That’s really good advice. I would never have thought of an empty lot. Thanks also for the recommendation.
