Interesting predicament. Thoughts?

Hello all! I am in an interesting predicament and wanted to get your thoughts or see if anyone has been in a somewhat similar situation. I've been trying to purchase a particular item and found one at the LV boutique in the Chicago Nordstrom. I was excited since I found the item (been out of stock online for forever) and I was able to use a double points day to earn Nordy Notes. It took me 2 weeks of persistently calling (perhaps I should have seen this as the 1st sign that I should just drop this interest) to finally get anyone to pick up the phone or call me back. Finally last week (Thursday) I get the callback from the store manager and completed the transaction. I was expecting the item to be boxed up and ready for UPS pick up the next day (Friday) for immediate shipment. It was not (2nd sign this was not going to be a smooth transaction). The item wasn't boxed and a shipping label created until Saturday so I'm assuming pickup would occur on Monday. All the while I get a UPS notification that says the item will be delivered 8/11 (today). Not true as the status shows Order Processed: Ready for UPS.

As you all know there was the unfortunate destruction of high-end stores on Miracle Mile (the 3rd sign this isn't going to go smoothly). If UPS wasn't going to pick up until yesterday (8/10) the likelihood of the item still being there and not stolen by looters is probably slim. I don't think I'll be getting my item. I called Nordstrom to explain and the most they can do is put the purchase aside and not charge me for it but a credit for the item has to be issued by LV. After waiting on the phone for 30 mins I spoke to the LV customer service specialist and was told I have to wait until the store manager can get back into the store (timeframe unknown) to take inventory of what's missing and understand the status of pending orders and shipments.

At this point, I have no choice but to wait it out. So frustrating! Have I done all I can do? Anyone else had a somewhat similar experience? If so, what was it and how did it turn out?

I'm so sorry for you! What a frustrating situation. I think you've done all you can do at this point. I'd give them a week or so to get things allocated for. It's a scary time for the employees I'm sure, and being patient will help.

Thank you for reaffirming I've done as much as I can do now. I even feel bad bringing it up because well it's the worst kind of 1st world problem. I totally get it but somehow it was therapeutic to tell my story and vent a little

Also thank you for the reminder of practicing some patience.

There's always the chance the looters and thugs only grabbed the stuff in the display cases/shelves and not packages in brown boxes in the back stockroom.....(fingers X'd for you)

I was told by my SA that Nordstrom’s was hit not sure the extent....May I ask what the item was? I’m so sorry, must be so frustrating. Did you pay for it? i guess I would keep calling until I reached the manager who could let cs know to issue a credit if you paid for the item....

It was a bandouliere strap. Not a handbag but also not a small ticket item :hrmm: Charge has already hit my card. The lady with client services said she passed my info on to the store manager and she’d get back with me whenever they can assess the damage and what items had not been picked up by UPS/shipped. A waiting game and I’ll reach out in another 7-10 days if I don’t get any updates.

Did you track Ups to see if maybe it was mailed out?

The UPS status has shown “Order Processed: Ready for UPS” since Saturday. My UPS app still shows that the expected delivery date is today. When I call UPS customer service or go online the automated system or online status shows the same status as my app. Since COVID hit I think it’s impossible to actually talk to a person at UPS. All automated and not helpful. I guess I should be impressed that at least the message is consistent (regardless of how you get it) rather than conflicting info.

I’m sorry....sounds like it didn’t get picked up on Monday....I hope it is still there for you when they get cleaned up...I can’t imagine employees having to come back to that...

wait and see if it shows up today. sometimes they don’t scan the boxes i’ve had packages show up and the tracker still shows them in their origin location because nobody bothered to scan the box.

i hope this is what happened and it shows up for you. otherwise yeah get your refund.

It wasn’t delivered yesterday  I’ll keep hope alive that I see it this week but doubt it as it was shipped with Next Day Air service so it should have arrived by now. I don’t think it left Chicago. I just hope the refund process is quick and not drawn out. No resolution until store manager can get back in to the store which I am hoping is within the next week. Fingers crossed!

I am sure it is sitting in their shipping department ready to go out. I highly doubt the looters got that far. I know it is tough to wait but I think you have done all you can and now all you can do is wait. Hopefully the damage isn’t too bad and they are able to get up and running soon. What a scary situation for them.
