Wonder if the clinics would allow you to video record your entire surgery procedure with your own device so that you can review it and make sure there's no shadow doctor/funny business?
Has anyone tried requesting for this?
Maybe can tell from the body shape, height etc? Also at the start of the surgery you can talk to them to confirm their identity first, and they shouldn't need to walk out of the surgery room in the first 1-2 hours at least? How will you tell the doctors apart with face masks on? Better to find a small clinic where only one doctor specialises in the procedure you want. That way you can be sure that no shadow doctor is operating on you. Avoid clinics with a whole army of doctors like ID, GNG.
This would only work if the doctor has a distinctive appearance e.g taller than average. When I was in Seoul I visited ID out of curiosity and I kid you not most of the male doctors looked like BTS clones. I couldn`t tell them apart. If you are under GA how will you make sure that the doctor doesn`t leave the surgery room? Personally I wouldn`t risk it but if you have contingencies that you think could work then you can try it out.Maybe can tell from the body shape, height etc? Maybe you could draft a contract that mandates that the doctor will not leave the room during the surgery (at least for the first 1-2 hours), and verify that it's complied with the video footage? I believe shadow doctor practice is illegal so if you ensure that you have the evidence they will not attempt it?This would only work if the doctor has a distinctive appearance e.g taller than average. Unfortunately in Korea contracts don't mean much. These clinics are protected by the govt. There have been cases where patients have died e.g Grand Plastic and nothing happened not even a suspension so I don't see how a contract will deter them. Also remember these clinics have deep pockets and top legal teams, they can manipulate evidence and you'll have no way of proving it. the only way this could work is if you have someone you trust to accompany you into surgery and remain at your side for the duration. Or you can have the surgery under sedation.Maybe you could draft a contract that mandates that the doctor will not leave the room during the surgery (at least for the first 1-2 hours), and verify that it's complied with the video footage? @Mazikeen is right. At Girin, Machimpyo, Namu etc. they only have one doctor ie for facial contouring so no risk of a swap. At larger teaching hospitals, foreigners may be used for training a young surgeon or given to a shadow doctor. They know foreigners will fly home so cannot stay to find a lawyer and sue. Korea can be a minefield. Make sure the smaller clinic has an anaesthetist as some clinics may not even have one and the doctor does the iv sedation himself! That said larger hospitals have anaesthetists and can intubate when things go wrong but how does one guarantee getting the top surgeon and not one of his trainees or shadows?
There have been a spate of deaths in Korea lately, the last one a Hong Kong heiress going for breast FT with liposuction in January.
I asked DA for cctv footage suspecting I had got a shadow. At first they said yes we can get you, then they said no its confidential, then they said ok of the corridor then, then they said not possible. Regen said yes pay extra and we can video record it for you. But I never went ahead so I don't know if they would or not.
Your wife was lucky she got a good surgeon and good results. Some of us paid a fortune and got terrible results and we are sharing our experiences so no one makes the same mistake.wow i can feel grudge from your comments
did something happened? My wife did Breast Surgery in Korea and the result were splendid
