"Like" a thousand times.
Dear @Gourmetgal and @diane278
That makes us 3 sad BV fans and, I'm sure, many others too here on tPF.
I recently had a chance encounter with a BV merchandiser at a social setting. We gravitated towards each other because I had admired her Cassette (nope, not tempted) and she'd made overtures towards my rock-n-roll fringed Hobo.
I politely asked how sales were post-TM and voiced my frustration to her that the intrecciato seasonal treatments we've come to look forward to every season are sadly (almost) gone.
She acknowledged this and in response said that the Asia-Pacific reps have since raised it to management that "new guy" (DL) should have considered the clientele's demographic and tastes for classic old-school BV when making those sweeping changes. It turns out DL does not like the classic weave and prefers the "7.5" and is experimenting with another size of weave as well. If size of weave is all he can manage now as he steers the BV ship around, I'm sure innovative treatments and classic designs may not even be part of his scheme of things.
3 days ago, I dutifully watched the Spring 2020 show with a sense of dread rather than anticipation, and my fears for the Hobo (my favourite) were confirmed with this hyperbolic Amazonian warrior cape-bag. (You can literally see the intrecciato weave flapping in the wind in the 2nd pic below).
Such bags don't do very well in my mundane 9-6 office and mothering life(s), am afraid. I'll leave it to the fashion zeitgeist to pose gazelle-like in snake heels winding up their ankles as they wield their pouches to fend off dangers in their Influencer world.
We can only hope that the Kering head honchos hear us regular folk's pleas for a return to classic and intrecciato woven bags.
