Hi There!
Just wanted to warn people of some definite and probable counterfeits on eBay recently. I’ve been looking for the CHA-NEL cruise earrings for some time and recently saw some on eBay from luckyluxgirl (43) and from koko1954 (4125).
I bought the earrings from luckyluxgirl after being asssured that the earrings were 100% authentic. On receiving them, they were clearly fake: the packing was poor and the earrings themselves seemed “too light” and flimsy and seemed to be made of poor quality metal (they did not feel as substantial as the necklace I have from the same collection which is authentic Chanel). The seller did accept a return and I was refunded but I am sure they will repost the item. I have attached pictures comparing the obviously fake item packaging compared to my authentic Chanel. The earrings did have a “stamp” on them, and they had even either copied an official booklet or got an official booklet from a dumpster dive to put with the fake item, so be warned, counterfeiters are getting quite sophisticated.
Being understandably cautious, I had contacted koko1954 regarding her item and if there was a receipt or what type of provenance the item had, or if they could take some addition close up pics of the packaging. I wrote “I was looking to find out if it was purchased from a boutique or other licensed Chanel location (Barney’s, Neiman Marcus, etc), is there a receipt of purchase, and if there is any sort of protection to me as a buyer i.e. if I were to take it to an authentication service and it was found to be a reproduction would I be able to return it, etc.” to which koko1954 simply replied “Thank you, what type of authentication would you like, ? These beauties are totally 100% authentic.” Koko1954 also states “My photons (sp) show it all.”
Koko1954 continually refused to answer any questions regarding receipts or provenance. They then wanted to see pictures of the fake item I bought asking it it had a seal. I replied that a seal does not authenticity guarantee and that seals can also be faked. The seller also has some existing negative feedback for selling fake Chanel earrings which I questioned them about, and they refused initially to address or answer. They then did finally rely to the question in a round about way, “These earrings are 100% authentic as well as the earrings that I had sold and received negative feedback for (these were retuarmed and sold again) I do not have a receipt for these. I have been doing this for years and I do sell fake things.” Freudian slip, methinks, haha. So please beware of these two sellers and their definitely and likely counterfeit items, respectively.
