How to build a collection?

There's a thread on this in the general handbags forum (what we yearn for, what we crave...) if you search for build collection, it should come up.
I buy what I love. Sometimes it's a new style, sometimes one I already have. Sometimes a specific bag. Often specific years of leather or colours. Any time I've purchased just because it's a good deal but my heart wasn't in it? I've resold.
