I'm hoping to get advice and thank you in advance.
In October I purchased my first chanel, a business affinity in black. I stepped away from lv bc who makes a black bag nicer than Chanel! I absolutely love it. Two months later there was a quality issue. The rim of the back pocket seemed like it rubbed off or fading . At first Chanel said it was wear and tear. I argued that the bag was two months old, pristine condition (don't wear every day) and no where above or below is that an issue, just the edge. Couldn't be wear and tear. Anyway, Chanel offered to repair it and if I was not satisfied with the repair I could take a credit. TODAY(in a few hours) I will be picking up the bag.
HERE'S WHERE I NEED YOUR HELP- should I even take the repaired bag or just take the credit? Yes, I love the purse and it is exactly what I want but I'm concerned that this will happen again - like it may be damaged goods or I will have to have this stressful battle with chanel again over wear and tear vs defect. Or does Chanel make a repair in such a way that it will no longer be any issue? I only had it Two months !!! I was very disappointed.
Do I take the repaired bag if it looks good, if it looks like there was never a problem? chanel said they would probably redye the area. Will the dye eventually wear off in that repaired area?
What would you do and why? Thank you for reading this and helping.

i know LV handles things quite differently and offer credits and immediate exchanges with defective products, so you might be used to that? it's more rare with chanel to be offered a credit when the bag was actually deemed by your SA to be wear and tear/your fault., imo i'd probably take the credit this time b/c if the bag had an issue again they might believe it's you again and not exchange/repair it without cost. i;ve had bags redyed - the color does not come off but the leather will feel slightly different in the re-colored area.

Well it depends really. If the DESIGN of the bag itself seems like it would lend itself to the flaw, then I would just take the credit because you'd just be worried and waiting for it to happen again. If it seems like there was some type of defect with your particular bag, then I would probably trust that Chanel fixed it right for you if the repair looks well done when you pick it up.

I would take the credit. I would find it hard to trust that the problem won't happen again. Also, like you said, having to deal with them if it does happen again will be highly unpleasant. Good luck deciding!

I would take the credit. You should be totally happy with it and this may just niggle in the back of your mind.

Take the credit if you can. But I don't know if you have a choice here. If they fix your bag right, what reason can you give them to take the credit. Good luck. I saw the business affinity bag and I love it too.

You are better off taking the credit no matter how much you like the bag. It will always be an issue in your mind.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to respond. I didn't get to go to the store today, it's far and ran out of time to get there. I will go this coming weekend and take all your advice.
Rainypop you brought up a good point about whether I will actually have a choice if the repair resolves the issue. I hope I have a choice bc the repair specialist promised his word that if I wasn't satisfied with the repair I could take a credit. I hope that doesn't become an issue if I want the credit. Maybe he just said that because I was so upset he would not replace the bag. (He had to send it to NY to Make the decision and they said repair)[emoji21] I have a week to worry and stress, lol.
I was also told the bag sold out and not available. I would take the new style affinity in its place but I don't think it is offered in black? I know I definitely wont settle and keep a repaired bag I'm not happy with even if I can't get the same one. I will wait until the next perfect bag for me comes along if I take the credit, or they honor their word and give me the credit....thanks again!!!

That's what I wanted! Unfortunately they wouldn't offer that. The repair specialist said if I was not satisfied with the repair I could take a credit. I hope he keeps his word.

I'm not sure what Chanel's policy is now but they should have initially given you a credit and damaged out the bag. It is too short a time from the purchase for the wear you describe to occur. It's disappointing but the bag is expensive and things like this should not be an issue.
I want to add that I bought Chanel for years and drifted away from the line due to quality change.
Hoping that will be resolved

I remember the wear on your bag  Would they have additional "warranty" on the repaired bag? If the same area gets worn out in another 1-2mths, meaning the repair was just a quick patch job, can you bring it back again? For the new season, it does come in black but the quilts are reversed.

I didn't see it online in black, but this is most likely what I will use the credit for(hoping that I will get the credit!!) if it is in the store. THANKS. So much for the info!

Update- I went to the store today and they kept their word. I got a store credit. I was very pleased. Unfortunately the business affinity in medium black is sold out and they said that the new style(season) version in black is not being sold, only the small. So I will have to wait to see if any new bags come out that I like. I want a black crossbody that is big enough for everyday wear. I'll hold out until I see one that I love as much as the business affinity. Anyway, I'm pleased with Chanel's customer service [emoji4].

That's good. Just my curiosity, did they repair it well or it's not good after the repair?
