Antigona owners - what do you like the LEAST about it?

I'm looking to get a semi-everyday bag that will either be a Céline luggage micro or a small Antigona, so I'm wondering what the most pronounced cons of carrying an Antigona day-to-day are, for you?

I ask since I'm fairly familiar with how the luggage tote holds up to use, but have no idea how the Antigona does or doesn't function in everyday life. Is it hard to get in/out of? Does the zipper catch on fabrics? is it a bottomless pit or can you find what you need in it? how do you think it transitions between types of occasions? is it bulky or unwieldy? etc etc.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

The small Antigona is a fabulous daily wear bag. I have had many and absolutely love this bag. The zipper is very sturdy, smooth, and never catches. The bag's size prevents it from being a black hole yet it hold alot for the size. The structure stays intact...have yet to see a small that has smooshed and lost its structure. The style can be casual or upscale or professional. Easily transitions from day to night. Not a super formal event kind of bag but pretty much any other time is appropriate.

The only CONS I can think of is some people have complained that the shorter strap is too short, so the bag pokes in the armpit. However, many just push the bag slightly back and are happy. Also, Givenchy remedied this by lengthening the strap. The other CON I may think of is the structured form. It can possible feel bulky if one is used to a smooshy bag.

Seriously cannot think of anything else.

I have a medium and a small Antigona and IMO the small is perfection. I honestly cannot think of a complaint. You are comparing a zipper closed satchel to an open topped tote. If you are looking for that open top with extremely easy access to your things the Antigona may not work for you. I feel the Antigona is by far the better bag... I considered and have looked at the Celine many times but never purchased.

Thanks for your great & thorough response! Lots of food for thought!

Thanks for your reflections! I've never been an everyday user of a satchel so that's a fair point - i hadn't considered the big difference in type/access to begin with.

The opening is a bit tighter than I would like and the new longer strap doesn't look as good when it's hand carried. But the bag itself is gorgeous! I also have the micro and whilst I know this is the G forum, I do prefer the micro.

I love my small Antigona. I think the inside phone pocket does not work with my phone and it bugs me. I keep just throwing my phone in the bag and searching for it.

interesting! does the opening relax/give more with time, or is is pretty much permanently rigid?

Echoing some other posters - I'd say the only thing I'd wish for is an adjustable strap on the small ant. The new longer strap is more comfortable, but I can also see how it isn't as 'neat' looking when handheld. And the opening isn't as convenient as an open tote, but the zipper is very high quality and more secure for my purposes moving about a city. I finally took the plunge on a small ant myself and would absolutely choose it over the Celine luggage. Depending on your preferences, I also find the Ant both a bigger and more subtle statement bag, in the sense that it's not as 'popular' as the luggage, yet its shape and quality will def draw some second glances.

Personally, I love the Antigona. I received a medium glossy black one just a few days ago, and not only is it much lighter than I expected, but it also suits my body. I am 5'8 and thin, and the bag doesn't interfere with my silhouette or vice-versa. Someone with a different body type might find it too bulky/unwieldy to carry, as I have seen some other reviewers mention in other parts of the web.

I find it very comfortable to carry. The straps are perfect for the crook of my arm and the flat shoulder strap is comfortable and doesn't dig into my shoulder as a narrow strap would.

I even pack a dust bag or protective waterproof pouch folded into it in case I am going out to a restaurant or if the weather could be dodgy, and then I cover it up. I wanted a chic bag I could carry documents and ballet essentials in that matched most outfits and I've found it! It also makes a beautiful carry-on bag., day bag, and classy evening bag. I don't think I'd take it to formal events, however.

The things I carry in it tend to be light enough; I can fill the entire bag with relatively light items and it won't make it much heavier or compromise its structured shape, but of course that would change if I loaded it with heavy items constantly. I also rotate it with other bags and clutches depending on the occasion, so I expect it to last a long time. I would definitely carry it every other day, depending what I'm doing.

The design is streamlined, unfussy, and impressive. The zippers open and close smoothly without catching on anything. The medium is easy for me to see into and get into. It helps to have light or brightly coloured things in it to contrast with the dark lining. I suggest transparent pouches for the smaller items, particulary if you have "out of sight, out of mind" tendencies.

Someone on the forum mentioned the smoothe calf type of leather does or seems to have a protective coating as well. I thought I had scratched mine despite babying it so much, and it only turned out to be a small grey scuff mark which I removed completely with a white pencil eraser, making it look shiny and new again!

I cannot speak for the small version; I haven't seen it in person. I've read a lot of glowing reviews about the small Antigona, that it takes up less space and still fits plenty of things. If I got a small size, I would still get the smooth leather one since it seems from other posts that the grained version tends to get easily stained with water and such. A specialist might help get it out, but at the moment, I wouldn't know. You can have it treated with a protective spray.

You might also want to consider what you want/need to carry with you, and compare the estimated dimensions of those items as a group with that of the bag you are considering, to get a better idea.

There are plenty of small Antigona reviews on youtube, as well. It could help you visualise the outcome better. The videos definitely helped me make my choice. The most ideal thing would be to try them on and inspect them at the shops if you still have a hard time deciding.

Good luck in your search for your perfect bag!

Wow, this is an incredibly thoughtful response! Plenty to think about here, esp the grained v calf consideration, which I hadn't taken into account. Was leaning towards the grained until now. Thanks so much!

Hi,

I have a medium antigona and i love it so much.
Mine is a goatskin, so there are some pebbling texture going on. I notice that it's going to flatten just a bit (doesn't bother me so much) especially on the parts that hit your body often when you carry it.

I almost never close the zipper because the top handles get in the way.

yes, someone said it earlier and let me echo: it is a bit of a challenge to stow. my closet space had to let go of around 3 bags (enjoy Mom!) to make room for my antigona.

But no regrets. Love it so much. The handles are a joy to hold, the bag is amazing to carry! Beautifully crafted. And worth every penny!
