Waitinglist for Birkin, how long did you had to wait?

I have been told by my SA that they had people refuse to accept "no" for an answer and decided to camp out in the store for the day and had to be escorted out by security.

i was being served by my SAa when a horrible aggressive woman verbally attacked her to the point my mouth dropped open. basically she was screaming that she came from abroad for B after being 1 or 2 years on a waiting list and she needed to be served immediately as her train departs in one hour! seeing trouble for everyone, I quickly said to my SA that i could wait if she needed to deal with her. But guess what, when my SA started asking her what color, size, she could not remember. The best part is she could not even tell her name and gave several - for the purpose of checking the wait list. nothing was found, and the woman said : " but you colleague told me to come today!" which colleague ? "i dont remmeber his name" well long story short, my SA could not help her but then they found by description that colleague and believe it ot not she got a B! we were both in shock!
i told my SA that i am sorry for H if such "classy" clients r associated with the brand.

I did check in at Harrods today and yes it was not a waiting list as the SA mentioned before. It is simply a list of information type/colour/size kind of things taken by the SAs from the customers and if they have a bag in that fit in that particular criteria then they will forward it to the customers. Just like what Elina0408 said.

YES! Its same here. My SA called it the "Wish List".
Still waiting for the perfect B to land but my B timeline is:
May 9 2014: Put down my name for the wish list for a B30 Bleu Sapphire Togo PHW.
March 26 2015: got an offer for B30 Black  Passed.

So its not too bad getting my first offer within 11 months   I'm definitely NOT a VIP or regular (I wish my wallet would allow me to!!).

There is hope afterall. And yes like others said my SA kind a let me in the dark when it comes to what color will come when. But hinted me that there is a great chance a "dark blue" will come soon ;)
When I put down my name they told me that they never know what they will receive from Paris. So yeah....H is really good at being "vague" huh

It is true, though, that the SAs don't generally know what is coming when. They can find out what's been ordered by their SM, but if/when those items will appear is unknown. The SAs get excited when a shipment arrives to see what's there!

I am not sure about waiting list. Here is my story

I have the most wonderful SA everrrr. I drop in sometimes just to pick his brains, bring cookies and cupcakes at times…and we could talk for hours. Travel, food…common interest. LOL

I was offered two Birkins within weeks (refused the first one) ..from the day hefound out that I’d like to have one. Got my first Birkin Aug 2014. AroundDec/Jan I started telling him ..How I needed a Kelly in my life in gold oretoupe. I got offered Bleu atoll by the end of Feb which I refused, and Gris T Kelly retournein March 2015 (totally in love). He kept the Gris T aside for me coz he thought I’d love it more than etoupe. So two bags with in a year. No massive purchases either. Btw my friend has stopped by at the same boutique and got “there is a waiting list of 1+ year”.

So is there really a waiting list? Hmmm. It’s all about building your relationship with SA..finding the right one. I truly believe so.
So lucky!! I'm too shy to start any conversions with anyone :/

I agree!! My SA doesn't know what's coming until it arrives... He is not a GM. Maybe they know.... I was a very fortunate soul and was offered a B and a K the first time in the boutique. I also believe the SA had a crush on my DH ;) giggles!!

SAs genuinely don't know when they will receive what. They were not lying to you.

At my local store (which is located 250 km from me). I was told there was a wishlist but at that time point it was not open because they were still waiting for older "wishes" to arrive but they hoped to open it up a few months later. I was told to decide what bag I wanted so she could write down my name once it opened.
I had no purchase history except the bracelet I bought the same day. In March last year I was told it had opened and that I was on the list and my chances were good but the estimated waiting time was still 2 years. In the meantime I bought various things from the store every time I visited but no big spending. Then I went to pick up some cups I had ordered and a week after I got the call my bag had arrived. That was after just 6 months wait.

Speaking only from my own experience, if someone uses the words "waiting list" it means they don't currently have any plans to sell you one.

I believe policies do vary from store to store, from country to country, from continent to continent. I wouldn't be surprised if some stores do operate a list (I have seen one recently in a store in an European country.)

This.

Although I understand your point, I think many H boutiques intentionally keep it "open, vague and brief" because there are some customers for whom No answer is just sufficient enough. And in my view, an SA bringing up or discussing "regular customers" or "wait list policies" is pretty risky and opens up the SA/boutique to EVEN more probing, possibly uncomfortable discussions.

I've been within hearing distance of customers being told "Am afraid we have none in stock..." only for the customers to barrage the SAs with endless multiple questions that may be difficult to answer "None? But I heard from XXX or read on the Internet that you have a lot of stock and you just sold to XXXX and you keep them at the back? How much do I need to spend to get a birkin? Do I need to be a regular customer? How much do I need to spend to be a regular customer? But according to my friend etc etc etc"

I have seen the above scenario dozens of times. The SAs get interrogated regardless of the answers they give. What answer could they possibly give that is going to completely satisfy someone desperate for a birkin or a kelly?

That's why I do understand when many SAs sometimes just give a polite shrug and say "Am afraid none are currently in stock and we don't know when we will have them again..."

I think every SA keeps his/her own wishlist for customers. When the bag arrives, he/she will choose the priority of customers who can get it. So I think actually the "relationship" matters.

yes absolutely this!!! they say it's like christmas, waiting for presents to be opened :biggrin::biggrin: they hover and wait and see what has arrived, and POUNCE on the items especially if they have a specific client in mind for it! :lolots: ahhh to be a fly on the wall when this happens!!!

I wish I could purchase something every month at H to bloom my relationship with my SA. He's very nice though and I keep telling him the B will be my 40th Bday present in 2016. Not sure if that helps but u never know! Crossing fingers for all of us waiting for our first B to arrive very soon!

Not sure if my question belongs here or in the Maintaining H Relationship thread but here we go...
Three weeks ago I asked for and received my first K! I had a rather disappointing Paris trip (b/k wise) in the winter. That was my first foray into H as I have been a Chanel girl.

Anyways, when I got back in the US, I gathered up enough courage to go into a boutique. I met the sweetest SA, and purchased a few small items. Last time, while picking up an online order in the shop, I casually asked about B or K and got one! The service was impeccable. I am going back next week with a little "thank you" for my SA: cupcakes!!!!!

My question for you ladies and gents is.: Should I ask to be placed on a list for a B? I don't want to seem greedy but I know what I want. My bank account and I are willing to wait.

Nothing to lose your part
Not greedy at all.
Not as if you asking immediately for it

I put my name down in April 2011. Got my bag in sept 2014. Was initially told the wait would be 2 years. But it took 3.5 years.. Worth the wait?? Absolutely !! As I wanted to get one from Hermes and not resellers as I am terrified of fakes. For my Kelly I've been told 5 years !!!
