Hi Ladies,

I need some enlightenment on a customs and taxes question. If someone from Canada buys something from the US. Does it help as a seller to claim that item as gift and at a lower value than it is for the customer? Or is that not a good thing to do as a seller?

Thoughts?

Just an update. She basically told me I am an inexperienced seller. I refunded her money back not to deal with it. ugh

Being inexperienced isn't bad--we all start that way.
You avoided a mess by asking for advice.
And, in future, maybe add, "winner responsible for all tariffs & duties" policy clause to avoid these issues.
I'd say you came through with style, lady. Good on you.

Thanks! You are right about the whole thing. She keeps emailing me unprofessional comments about not selling her the item and that everyone does it on ebay.
