With the proliferation of premier designer super fakes, it's not a bad idea to recall a quote from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves..."

So what to do? Remember the three Rs and you will avoid being scammed.

1. Research: Acquaint yourself with the bag you want to buy. Visit the Authenticate this.. threads on tpf and learn what to look for in the bag and the brand you desire. Also, visit the designer's website. Beyond that, the entire internet is yours to peruse.

2.Resist: Resist temptation. If the price is too good to be true, it frequently is. That isn't to say that there aren't deals to be found. Just know what you're looking for, and the validity of the seller offering you "this unbelievable deal."

3.Remember: Your intrinsic worth is not in the bag you carry, but in yourself. Never allow anyone to diminish that.

Trust Fim to put it so well, as usual! Great advice!

P.S. Thank you for the shout-out in your thread title :shame:

This is a really good list. Thank you for posting this.

Wonderful post, OP. You were able to convey it in a straightforward and memorable fashion. Kudos!

I saw Maice's thread in the Prada subforum. I think this is a good continuation. Very good advice.

Thank you, SeleneMarta. It's heart rending at times to read the Authenticate this.. threads when someone finds out they've been duped and unwittingly bought a fake.
