Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep rock their shades on the red carpet at the 2014 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards held at Barker Hanger on Thursday (January 16) in Santa Monica, Calif.

The ladies worked together in the movie August: Osage County and they are both nominated this evening – Julia for Best Supporting Actress and Meryl for Best Actress!

The full cast of August: Osage County also received a nomination for Best Acting Ensemble. They are up against the casts of 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, Lee Daniels’ The Butler, Nebraska, and The Wolf of Wall Street.

FYI: Julia is wearing a Juan Carlos Obando dress, Dana Rebecca Designs earrings, and a Barbara Bui clutch. Meryl is wearing a Stella McCartney dress, Salvatore Ferragamo pumps, a Christian Louboutin clutch, and Jorge Adeler earrings.

The half-sister of Julia Roberts has died of an apparent drug overdose, her family announced Monday.

Nancy Motes, 37, was the youngest sister of Julia and actor Eric Roberts.

She was found dead Sunday in Los Angeles, the family says in a statement.

"It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes ... confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose," the statement reads. "There is no official report from the Coroner's office yet. The family is both shocked and devastated."

Given that she's nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her portrayal of a daughter meshed into the toxic heart of a dysfunctional family, it would be highly unusual for Julia Roberts not to attend this year's Academy Awards.

But in the wake of her half-sister's death and subsequent claims that a fractious relationship with America's Sweetheart drove Nancy Motes into a suicidal abyss, it must've been hard for 46-year-old Julia not to ruminate on how cruelly life can imitate art as she arrived at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday night.
