Hello all,
I am starting a new job in two weeks as a staff attorney in legal aid and need a briefcase/satchel.

I have narrowed it down to about three options

1. The MARC BY MARC JACOBS
'Top Chicret' Satchel

2. The large Clara Satchel by Tory Burch.

3. Cambridge Satchel classic in navy.

Can anyone offer opinions on any of these bags or have suggestions for a briefcase type bag. It must have a long strap but that is about it.

Thanks for any suggestions.

The Cambridge 15" Batchel would probably be the most functional out of those due to its size. I think the Marc Jacobs looks really nice, but I feel like the height may make it a bit small for holding folders, if that's what you need it for.

Thanks for the advice all, has anyone seen the Betchel up close? Is it sold anywhere I can go and look at it. I use a wheelchair and need to make sure it will fit.

Thanks again.

I have seen it. My daughter has the back pack and has used it daily for over a year now. The batchel has a handle on the top. The departments stores like Bloomies only sells the smaller purse size bags, but that might help. The 15 is a really good size. What are you trying to fit into it? I ordered my daughters online and had it blind embossed.

My Macbook Air, pens, a big folio and a phone. Change of clothes. Thank you!

If you like the look of Cambridge Satchels, I'd recommend checking out The Leather Satchel Company who has been making these satchels for decades. Apparently quality wise, they're better than Cambridge Satchels, plus you can request a custom order for a unique satchel (dimensions, colours, buckle/magnetic clasp etc). Leather Satchel Company also offers a 5 year craftsmanship guarantee on their goods.

There's a comparison review somewhere on google about the differences in quality between Cambridge Satchels, Leather Satchel Company and Zatchels, and if I remember right, Leather Satchel Company had the most favourable rating.

The Court bag is listed as only 9 1/2" (L) x 7 1/2" (H) x 3 5/8" (W), definitely too small. The Cambridge Batchel is about 15" L x 10" H, so it should fit a 13" macbook, folio, and small items just fine, but probably not extra clothes.

Thanks, I just wish I could hold the Batchel and look at it before I buy it.

I know, it's so hard to buy things without having seen them in person. I was just coming up blank on alternatives, hopefully someone else will come up with one!

ETA: The Coach Large Harper satchel might work. There are some preowned ones floating around in different colors. Depending on the price point you want to stay at, there are some nice ones on the men's side too, albeit generally a bit larger.

I agree here. The Leather Satchel Company will do customizations for a very reasonable price.

Out of the three options you meantioned I think Top Chicret is the best-looking bag but I do think it is too small for carrying folders, etc. and I find Tory Burch's quality to be lacking so I'd go with the Batchel.
