I started painting about 2 years ago when I went to a class at a local paint studio in Ga. I have been painting non stop since.. I would see paintings online I like and then use that as a base and make my own changes to make the painting my own. I have had a few people tell me to sell them but I havent really decided if I want to do that. Anyone else enjoy painting for fun?

i do occasionally but I don't paint as much as I used to. sometimes my friends will call me up "i like this painting online... can you paint it for me??" lol

i'll also do some for myself instead of going out and buying prints.

I have quite a few artist friends since my first full time job was primarily in that community and i'm always so jealous of what they can come up with. i'm not creative enough to just start painting something in my head.

You and me both!! Any pictures of your work?

oh i have a bunch lol - I took a bunch of painting classes in college (degree in graphic design) so I have photos of nearly every single painting I've ever done.
most of them are on my facebook - i'll see if I can find a few to upload here.

Oh wow.. thats awesome..

btw I do the same thing. Alot of my pictures have come from things friends have seen and told me I should paint.. I havent done it in awhile but I love doing it and it calms me down... so relaxing for me.

Here's a good handful of my favorites I've done over the years.
This is from my college years - probably my only fairly successful portrait lol

Another one from college. this was my favorite painting for YEARS and I feel like a picture of it doesn't do it justice. I finally gave it to my mom cause she had been begging for it lol - this image is from book I had picked up - it's an actual store front in a small town in iowa (if it looked like that now i have no idea lol). The actual photo was black and white.

set of 3 that i did for a friend. these were actually copies of prints she found

the past few years I started doing houses and stuff. Sort of 'before and afters' if you will.
This one is my grandparent's first house (where my mom grew up) and their house they lived in while I grew up. I painted this for them a year or two before they moved into senior living apartments.

This one my friend commissioned me to paint. It's a 'before and after' of her house where her parents live. Same house in both places, just the 'after' is a remodeled version. My friend said her mom cried when she opened it at Christmas.

one of my most recent projects that I did for my mom. she wanted two paintings to put on either side of a large window they have in their living room. I have two pictures of it because I really like the bare trees over the trees with 'leaves' lol sort of wish I could have done 4 paintings so I could have done a different season on each.

i was recently able to stop by a very large art store outlet and i scored on some tall thin gallery wrap canvases. a set of 3 for only $20, regular price would have been $75. i have no idea what i'm going to do with them though lol

Wow you have some beautiful work!! I can see why your friends have you do paintings for them.. I love the double canvas trees they are incredible!

thank you! I really enjoy doing them.
it takes me a bit to get started when i actually have one to do.. but once i do get started I could paint all day.

Finally got some pics of my paintings..

those a very cool theren! i'm not sure i'm even brave enough to do faceless figures lol
i like the style though. i can see them being a sort of collection.

I love painting very much. When I was young when I was doing my homework, I always paints in my notebook. It's funny, I always painted according to the pictures of the super stars. I have never learned how to paint, I painted just for my interesting, so I doesn't paint well.

are you in an area where a local college might offer adult classes? or some other organization. i highly suggest it if you can find something.

my style of painting changed so drastically from being a senior in high school to after my freshman year in college. getting at least a tiny bit of direction helps so much.

my first full time job outside of college was as a painter for company that did folkart(?)ish type home decor items. although i had to paint in their style, which i really love - so sometimes my style also reflects that.
