Found a cheap rate just browsing today. It is on the strip, which would be a plus (if we actually decide to go). Rooms less than 100 p/night is appealing but a little scary to me. I don't need a butler to turn down my bed covers. I don't need a 5 diamond sitting area. Just want a comfy bed (no floral comforters please...ever...I have nightmares of those hotels!), a clean room, a little ambiance and good service.

Never gambled before, so I have nothing to compare a casino to. It isn't really my thing, although we will probably hit a few tables just to say we did. Neither of us a big parties (DBF doesn't drink) although I might have a couple of drinks in the room or on the way to the room.

My other consideration was Aria (right around 100/n) or Hard Rock (great price, but not on the strip). Venetian and Bellagio (my first two choices) have a couple of really pricey nights (4-500!) mixed in our time off, so those are out of the question.

Flaming used to b really nice. Havent been there in years. PERFECT location right in the middle of the strip. Easy walk to other hotels. HR is a hike but way fun tho noisy, hence the name. Hellacious is pricey but awesome. Caesers is my fav. It IS Vegas so loud comforters are the norm. Have fun. Oh and check trip advisor for reviews that are current.

I have stayed at the Flamingo. Hate to break it to you but I think they do have floral bedspreads. It's nothing fancy, just a basic hotel in a fairly good location. Have you looked at Treasure Island? It's a little nicer than Flamingo but will probably be around the same price. Maybe just over $100.

I have stayed at the Flamingo. Are you going to be in your room a lot? I think it is ok and definitely in a great location. I don't spend a lot of time in my room and it is fine.

Hmm...their website shows it to be a little more updated. Maybe it has undergone a little renovation?

It's crazy, I know...Not sure what the deal breaker is about those spreads.

Maybe I will stick with the Aria just to be safe.

Just an update. Their website claims and shows "newly remodeled" rooms. Apparently they are having a 20% off sale. The basic rooms are 36 for two of our nights. The next step up "go room" is 50. I'm thinking I will try this for the super discount. Not sure about the upgrade yet though. It is less than 100 difference for 3 nights...

Now on to do some research on food costs...
The hotel has a 24 hour buffet pass for $45. I think that sounds like a super deal!
