i know how popular this bag is and how fast it sold out :sweatdrop:

i was one of the lucky few to get my hands on one however today after using it i was about to put it back in its dust cover and into my closet when i noticed a small dot :thinking:

i thought for a sec i got something on it and went into better light to see what it was then i find lots of dots and marks. then guess what it turns out to be??? :confused1:

Ill give you a hint........ all the marks are under the flap, the flap is red leather and the bag patent = colour transfer :wondering

the F^!#$*& leather on the inside of the flap on the bag has transfered colour onto the part of the bag under the flap wtf?? i know with patent leather colour transfer can happen but honestly from the leather its made to touch?? :nono:

If you have this bag can you please tell me if you have this problem or if im alone. i didnt see it before and had to go into good light to see it so its not THAT noticable but now that i know its there i just want to :crybaby:

Hi, OP! So sorry to hear about this! This is an issue with ligher patents, unfortunately! I had this happen to me with a wallet but luckily my SA at NM was nice enough to exchange it for me.

Members have mentioned that it is not reversible (below thread), but I would still inquire with a leather specialist or Chanel boutique about your options! :hugs:

^^ thank you ao much for your reply. I know patent leather can get colour transfer and that's why I'm so careful when I use it.

I just never thought it would get transfer from it's own self kwim.

That seems to be a defect from the bag itself, not from anything you did. I would take it to the boutique right away and ask that the defective bag be either exchanged or a new bag given to you. G.L. You should not have to keep a bag with this defect.

^^ thank you habanerita. sadly this style is all sold out and no more stock is available. I love the bag so much I don't know if I should just ignore it ???

I have so much other stress from life ATM that this was the last thing I needed (always the way)

hi floriade thank you for your reply. it's the new classic clutch. you can find a whole thread on this style in the Chanel shopping sub forum.

the bag is patent leather but the lining and underside of the flap is lamb. the die from the underside of the flap has transferred colour onto the patent leather under the flap kwim?? you can only see it when the flap is opened and I only saw it under bright light. in normal light I didnt even know it was there. it was just when I was outside in the sun that I could take the photo and really see the problem.

could you please check your bag and let me know it's ok?? do you have a pic of your bag so I can see if it's the same red??

Hi emcf

I have this in clutch too, in Turquoise Patent and am very shocked when i saw the pics u posted.. Then i remembered that when i bought it, my SA did caution me on color transfers and to use it often so that the color will not "stick". And if unused, hv to put the cloth under the flap to protect it. Until i saw ur post, im still quite unsure wad she was referring to....

Do you have a black cloth tt comes w the bag? Maybe u can place it under the flap if unused? It's my 1st patent and im starting to get really paranoid now...... Such an expensive bag w such headache *sigh*

oh your so lucky to get such a beautiful colour. mine didn't come with any cloth just the dust bag, tissue and box. I always knew about patent getting colour transfer so I'm careful nit to wear it with dark clothes but I never thought the leather would transfer onto the patent when it's designed to touch kwim. I have now put tissue in between the layers before putting it away to stop it from getting any worse. do you think it's only when storing it that it can get the colour transfer?? what about when I use it?? u can't keep paper inside the flap when I carry the bag lol. if it doesn't get worse I guess I can live with it because like I said before I can only see it in some lights but if it gets worse from when I use it I will be really really upset. I know it's "cheap" for Chanel but it's still an expensive bag that I have only used 8 times. my classic flap I have had for 1.5 years and use often looks like new. I guess that will teach ms for buying something because I love the colour lol.

Hey dear, RED is nice too! Just tat its all sold out at my side.. I think u get the color transfers wen keeping it.... Cos my SA did advise to use it often to avoid that.. I think wen we dun use it, the patent will "stick" to the leather dats y smth is needed to seperate both of them tgt... I have not used mine, not even once, so im not sure if using it will cause tat or not... And i also remembered my SA said to avoid keeping with "newspapers" as it will be imprinted on the patent! Beware.. Will update here if i hv used mine =)
My caviars dun give me headaches too... But dun like d look of caviar on this clutch =(

thanks again. the red has sold out world wide so your not the only one who missed out. also my country didn't get the green so I had no chance of getting that colour. I guess I'll just have to use it more hehehehe I have been using it about once per week. now I have the tissue between the layers I hope it won't get worse and atleast I can't see it when I carry the bag only when I open it in some lights.

I knew about the newspaper thing and I once had work papers inside my purple longchamp tote that left the inside of my bag with writing lol. atleast it's only at the bottom and a cheap bag but it helped me learn never to go near t
any ink ever again.

actually to be honest I was even scared the black from the dust cover would come off on the bag so I keep it wrapped in tissue then in the dust bag.


thanks again so much for your reply. it's made me feel that much better about this situation and not so upset over it.

ecmf, your post alarmed me and I rushed to check on my clutch flap as well (I have it in black patent). I think for whatever reason they did not seal the dye from the lambskin well enough to prevent it from transferring onto the patent side of the bag. :sad: My clutch came with a piece of black felt, the same type that comes with the WOCs, or tissue paper as you are using is fine too. BTW, I don't think using it at least once a week is considered infrequent!!! :smile: You may want to bring it to a boutique to see what your options are (Exchange, refund, repair?? even though I know red may be unavailable at this point but this ligne is supposedly continuing past this season)

thanks for your reply bluekit. can I ask as I don't have the felt thing does it continue past the cc lock when you put it in between the layers on your bag?? I only ask because the lamb under the cc lock area has also caused this problem. your bag should be ok because it's black. I've never heard of black getting colour transfer so you should be lucky. :biggrin:

I know they will keep making this style but I don't think they will make this colour again. I really don't want to exchange for another colour because that's the colour I love most and if I use another colour I'll always wish I had the red back kwim lol. and even tho it could pay my mortgage for a couple of months I don't want a refund.

I'm now checking on it every morning and night just to make sure it's ok :lol:
