What's a good Louboutin to start with?

OP, you must be my long lost twin or something. I'm also 5' 2", petite, size 6. I was in your position 2 months ago and have learned a lot from these ladies just by lurking. I wanted something black for work so it needed to be lower key than some of the fabulous shoe-porn on here, and since it was also for spring/summer I wanted open-toe or heel instead of a true pump. Simples are a little too simple for me. I got the black patent You You 85s and love them although haven't had a chance to wear them IRL yet. It's not a shoe referenced on here very much, but as the ladies have said, you just need to go with what will work for you.

And then once you decide on the black, you'll then have to start trying to find your perfect nude, because it will not stop with one pair...

Flashy is a smarty! I was just going to post that too. :P

Definitely get anything you plan to buy from anywhere but a reputable boutique or dept. store authenticated here. Good luck with your search.

I am so, so sorry but that word ''Laboutin'' cracks me up!
But agreed: post the auctions here to get it authenticated and go for whatever makes your heart skip a beat. My first love were actually the Decolletes, but I know people that went for strass as their first pair. It's about what you look for in the first pair and I always like to ask myself: what if this is the first and last pair, which would I like to have? Something sparkly or something classic?

Since you did ask for advice, maybe start with giving more hints as to what you like. Open-toe? Closed-toe? Round? Pointy?

5'2" and 5" heels looking ridiculous on you? Wow! Well I must look ridiculous everyday because at this point that's all I want because I am a shorty!! There is not such thing as high heels looking ridiculous on you, IMO.

Probably best to start with a louboutin.

:roflmfao:

These ladies are awesome and they will give you the best advice you could ask for. But nothing is the same as sliding your foot in the shoe and just falling completely in love on impact. You'll know it when you see it. Let us know when and what you decide! :flowers:

Sorry, but I can't help it:lolots:...

Anyway, like everyone else says, try on a pair at your local NM/Barneys/Saks/Nordies/boutique and see which pair fits and looks best on you. Who cares what everyone else thinks...

Good luck!

I think some of you missed my point

I am asking for opinions b/c I would like to be guided to something and avoid being overwhelmed which is what I was feeling when I started looking online. It seems there are dozens and dozens and honestly, I just want one that is like one of their classic/staple shoes.. not one of the trendy ones. Just like when I got my first chanel I got the classic one. And I don't regret it for a second.

I think the best advice is to go to a store and see what's out there and that will definitely help me out. I love the reference guide here too but again, I just felt overwhelmed b/c they are all so beautiful!

I said i would FEEL ridiculous. I didn't say I'd look ridiculous. I have 3 children and am not some young 20 year old thing, and i normally just wear flats or sneakers, so yeah, I would feel silly wearing 5 inches heels. Why are you so freaking defensive? I said nothing about the way YOU'd look, much less myself. Goodness.

Anyways.. I did say in another post that I didn't want a pointy shoe. I would prefer something more round but not perfectly round, and something without a 5 inch heel. i actually like slingbacks, and open toed shoes, but i also like the classic pump too. i don't have a strong preference either way but any fitting that description is good.

i'm sensing there are no classic louboutins to be directed to? or maybe most of you don't know what the classic ones even are?

Laboutin ... -_-

Ahem.

Anything that will make your heart melt is a good thing.
Something bought to impress people is not.
Something very expensive is not good either to begin with. ( i think about crystals actually)
Something colorful should be the perfect first pair, far from the safe black simple pump.

I have been in your situation before and had no clue where to start, since I did not know the names or styles at all.

I meant that Simple and Decollete are classics. Also, you can check the ron rons.

Those are my preference New Simple, Decollete and in black, they will be timeless.

Keep us posted it with your decision

Thanks so much for your constructive advice.. I will take it with me when I hit the mall this week

Sorry, yes I made a typo.. I am obviously VERY new to these shoes but I fell in love when I saw them.

I am not buying this to impress people. I am buying it b/c I think they are gorgeous! I definitely want a safe black pump.
