what a big and beautiful bag it was but i had no idea it was made of such a soft and delicate leather. not a good mix with 2 young toddlers!!! hug me, i'm sad!!

it's buttery soft which in turn causes it to scratch easier. i'll get pics of the wallets up when my baby is done nursing.
This may pale in comparison to some, but what about the cyclops tote at the outlets? The leather seems pretty durable on those, and there is a resemblance to the GiGi. Plus they are much less expensive...I think they were $140 last I checked?

what color? the GiGi i passed up was tan (camel?) and my own fingernail scratched it.

Black. I did own a Legacy shoulder flap in that light camel color, and it did seem more delicate. I would die for a whiskey Gigi.
I think the camel leather is more prone to scratching (natural wear). I have a camel Leigh and have been very cautious, but the leather is NOT thin or delicate. The factory Gigi's, legacy satchels and Cyclops I've seen haven't been delicate either! Maybe you can find one in black or another darker colour that would work for you Pitterpatter! 
camel leather would get dirty easier. hold out for a black gigi, pitterpatter!

I've been wanting the bag in this link since I sold my Gigi. I didn't think the leather was an issue though...very durable, for me it was just too much bag! I had this tote in my head before I even sold Gigi as a replacement. I have yet to buy it. I decided to opt for a heritage stripe tote in the coated canvas for spring/summer. I'll wait til' fall/winter to worry about Gigi's replacement!!!
PS~ For a mother of 2 I'd totally recommend the coated canvas heritage stripe totes! Easy clean-up and very durable. I've been falling out of love with the signature bags lately but this one had to come home with me!!!
