Chanel Mini Rectangular short chain??

In my experience the length of chains can be slightly different depending on the season it’s from. I bought a Chanel rectangular mini from a Chanel boutique a couple years back and had the bag mailed to me. I decided to return it because the chain length was a little shorter than my Silver rectangular mini from 2017. I also bought a classic quilted black WOC last year from London and the length Of its chain is shorter than my other wocs. It’s about 23 inches. To be on the safe side I would have it authenticated by a 3rd party and would also contact fashionphile to inquire about whether the bag was altered or not.

Q re new purchase, and a slight disappointment

Oh I really do agree with you on that! I personally don’t obsess over where the item is made, but OP just sounded like her shopping experience was a flop on several fronts, and that MIF was just one thing, but when you put them all together it equaled a big “I’m not loving it”. But ya, if you’re just chasing unicorns then good luck.
Yes, that's something different. The whole shopping experience should be fun.

Do you still love your medium rockstud spike bag?

I recently bought the medium in red and it was my first new bag after a 10 year hiatus from luxury bag purchasing. I LOVE IT.
When I was active on TPF a decade ago, I was very much a Chanel girl and my red rockstud spike has actually replaced my white flap as my favorite bag. I use it casually but haven't had a chance to dress it up because I'm still not really going anywhere...but two days ago, I wore it for an outing to Sam's Club lol. It kicks up a simple pair of shorts, a tee and sneakers in the same way a Chanel bag does. I'm not sure it will have the same staying power as Chanel but I see it as kind of an "edgy" Chanel cousin with the spikes on a quilted bag and I LOVE the handle which is so unique to the bag and now a detail that I've noticed other luxury brands have been adding...LV comes to mind

Leather jacket alterations? Is it possible?

Hey everyone, sorry just logged on now.

Well, with a stricter lockdown in Victoria, Australia, I can't really go anywhere at the moment. I've been in contact with a leather work shop that does a lot of designer brand alterations and will schedule an appointment once it's safe to do so. They said it does look complicated from the photos but I'll come in person to discuss what can be done and see mock ups for ideas on how to alter the jacket

I haven't seen a Burberry boutique near my area I think the closest might be an hour and a half away? But if I get desperate I might try Burberry directly.

Thanks ladies!

Anybody have the Rag & Bone Small Field Messenger?

I don't use my luxury bags when I do "big travel" such as flying across the country or internationally. I prefer to use something a little more low-key. I'm looking to replace my current travel crossbody, and came across the Small Field Messenger from Rag & Bone. I haven't found too much about it on the forum or Youtube. I have several things from their clothing line, but don't have any experience with their bags. Does anyone have this particular style?

What kind of bag do you wear in very snowy weather?

I'm new to this and trying to figure out leathers. Can you tell me the difference between clemence, togo and maurice in terms of structure, weight and rain. Thanks for your advice!
All are tough leathers. Generally speaking, clemence is the thickest and slouchiest with a big, flat grain. Togo is thinner and a bit more rigid with a smaller, raised grain and has a more or less pronounced veining. Maurice is kind of similar to togo, but it has no veining and is the the thinnest with the tightest grain and is also slouchier because of the thinness.

You can find pics in the reference section.

Atlas bangle

My T square bracelet is too tight in the summers, so I decided to sell it off to Fashionphile and get something different.

I haven’t seen a lot of reviews on this but I picked up the Atlas bangle. I love the Atlas collection and it makes a good addition to what I have already. I got the small size and it’s hard to get on and off my hand but the medium was too big on my wrist.

Cleaning pearl and silver hardwear bracelet.

That’s why I only got pearls on 18k gold. Less the maintenance issue despite the higher price point.

I love silver jewelry, but I agree, I avoid buying any porous stones set in sterling silver. Tarnish is inevitable on silver (unless it's plated), and it's difficult not to transfer the tarnish onto porous stones while using a silver polishing cloth and/or silver polish. Plus, the polish itself should not come into contact with porous stones like pearls.

Anti-Semitism in the Fashion Industry

It’s a matter of how they present her. There are ways of emphasizing the house’s contribution to fashion and its codes whilst distancing from the founder. Balenciaga doesn’t glamorize Cristobal. Dior, to an extent, doesn’t go into Christian that much. neither does Balmain. Hermès and Gucci discuss their brand heritage all the time, but I don’t hear them often glamorize the people behind that heritage. i don’t see that level of glamorization towards Jean-Louis Dumas or Guccio. (Edit: Dumas wasn’t the founder, but he did design one of the world’s most iconic bags)

it’s a choice to romanticize her while whitewashing her. I understand her contribution to fashion and the way women dress is immense. However, other designers have made their own significant impact in fashion and rarely given the push Chanel gives to their founder.

And that...makes me have a problem with them. This is just one of many issues I have with the brand.

i understand if people want to continue to support them. They push out beautiful designs and their modern image exudes a beautiful sense of glamour. Coco’s dead and your money isn’t going towards her anymore, but I feel people’s feelings against the brand shouldn’t be antagonized or invalidated as well.
I agree...you can't walk into a Chanel boutique without some SA telling you that the back pocket on a flap was to hold Coco's love letters and the chain strap is inspired by the nuns, etc., etc. The brand trades on her quite heavily and SAs are clearly trained to romanticize her.

Up to each of us as to how we wish to respond to brands. My husband, who is Jewish, worked in pharma, had a meeting at Bayer in Germany, and started the meeting with a very direct joke that, while breaking the ice, was also in its way a statement.
