Why Dooney Why?

You are so right about ILD shipping fee dilemmas. I didn't have anything else to buy at the time and what i wanted was $33 plus shipping = $51. Still not bad compared to normal price. But. I just couldn't do that shipping for 1 item under. I kept checking Ebay ILD and got it.. The black florentine coin case for $23 plus free shipping.
Smart move. I need to keep reminding myself to check ILD/Ebay.

I also noticed last night that ILD defaulted to holiday shipping with a
$25 shipping charge for an item less than $119. I wonder if the shipping
charge would have been lower if I selected one of the other shipping
options. ( It didn't matter to me if I got the bag before Christmas)
In the end, I just ordered something else I wanted.
I'm not doing to well on my 'no buy' plan. 🙄
I did check ILD/Ebay but the price for the items was much higher.

Hermes ventes privees (sale) Paris January 2025

Those aren't Neo boots. Note the difference between the Neo below and the ankle boots in the pic you shared. The outer sole is much thicker in the ones you shared, a seasonal item instead.

The boot's name on the receipt appears as "veo." It seems I mistakenly wrote it that way after an 18-hour flight, as the V and N keys are next to each other on my keyboard. 😂😂

Gucci leather is crap

Ugh that pisses me off. If I’ve had it for years and used it consistently then ya it wear and tear but if not they need to stand by their products.
I had it for a couple of years but hardly carried it. Thats why I was horrified to see the handles peeling like that. They actually said it was normal wear and tear. None of my regular bags did that. But whatever.

VCA next bracelet

I love the TB idea to stack with your current sweet perlee clover bangle! Rose gold and white gold together is the most stunning combo imo! I think that way, you can have something that looks nice stacked with your rg while also building your new wg stack. The rg signature bangle could be something to add later down the line. The single row diamond bangle is stunning, but might make the tennis bracelet feel more redundant in a way? Unless you’re a major diamond girl like me…:giggle: Honestly, you can’t go wrong either way! They are all gorgeous pieces and all will look equally amazing. I vote TB though!
Thx!

Penrose vs. Penrose 2

The Alto, Florentine and Pebble are my go-to leathers.

I started with Florentine, fell in love with the Alto line and just purchased my first Pebble in the last couple of months. I trusted your feedback when you explained the merits of PL. I just have the two bags but love having the bags I can carry in the wet weather.

I'm not very adventurous and stick with basic bags. My collection is pretty small and tight. My only multicolor bag is the Tessuda. Even my clothing is at least 95% solids. I'm kind of boring.
Not boring, classic and elegant. A well coordinated and tailored outfit and handbag can compete
with other styles. We each wear what we are comfortable with.

Anyone with both Birkin25 and new mini Cabat?

I am really interested if anyone on here owns both the new mini cabat and B25?

Posted similar thread earlier in relation to TM era mini vs B30 and B25 and the small Andiamo.

I now have both a TM era Mini as well as the newer mini cabat on strap that I love. Nevertheless, I feel there is still room in my collection for a B25. :)

Could use some advice on how they compare in terms of how much they can fit and when you would opt to wear one over the other? I prefer to hand carry the cabat but of course the strap option is very convenient at times. :)

As for the the B25 I have an idea that it would hold just a bit more than the cabat but also feels more secure and carefree (togo leather) and has feet!

What are your thoughts?

Bracelet sturdy enough for 24/7 wear

Thank you - I’m really loving my bracelet, it’s very comfortable to wear and visually interesting.

I used to have a silver RRT bead bracelet too and never noticed any wear on it, other than the inner chain that the beads are on seemed to stretch a bit over time. I think I wore it for about 3 years or so before some other bling caught my eye (lol) and I passed it on to my niece.

Like you I’m not huge into stacking, but sometimes will put an extra jewelry item or two on for going out. So I’ll get the most worn parts on the Hardware reinforced so I can still wear it occasionally. I think my new gold bracelet would also look great with a dainty tennis bracelet so am going to investigate that option!
That’s funny, as my Niece has her eyes on mine already!

Buying handbag from Hong Kong - customs, duties, tarrifs, authenticity?

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience purchasing designer luxury handbag from Hong Kong? I would've never considered it but I found a bag I desire which is very hard to find (this is only one I could find at all online) and shop swears everything is authentic and get they've been in business for 15 years, winning a "no fake" award annually. They say they offer refund if it proves to not be authentic and I realize I could always dispute charge on my credit card too in that case. Here's start in wondering:

- How/where can I get bag authenticated on my own?

- Will I be responsible for paying any additional customs/duties, etc? Been trying to research and coming up blank. Store tried to assist but also has no details.

TIA for any assistance any of you can offer.
In my experience, customs fees from Hong Kong coming into the USA are a much higher percentage compared to items coming from Japan/Europe/UK and other places where we have more favorable trade agreements. When I purchase items from international sellers, the highest customs fees I have paid have been from China, Hong Kong and Dubai (just my experience, there are certainly more countries that could be on the list). There’s no way to give an exact number, because it can vary by many percentage points just by something as small as the type of leather, whether it has pockets, whether it has metal snaps etc. You can try to get your best guess by downloading the US customs schedule file, but be aware that it will just give you an idea, you need to be prepared to pay up to 25%, so I wouldn’t risk it. I would only buy from a place that makes you prepay customs fees (like vestiaire collective or eBay global), because that’s the only way to know exactly how much it will be before you purchase. If you can buy from Japan/Europe/UK, you will pay ~8-10% customs fees in most cases, so much more manageable.
