Satin Calfskin

Thank you! Most of my other bags are very structured, so I think suppleness is not my number one priority. Just longevity. I don’t think I mind some creases, but I don’t want it to look old and ancient right away. I appreciate your input on the scratches; they are what I’m most worried about. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to see any in store myself, and my purse is set to arrive next week, so I guess I’ll evaluate what I think of it then. Just wish I could see some pictures of the satin leather after it’s been used a lot for over a year. I saw someone on YouTube that had been using it a couple months and it still looked really good, but she also recommended against the satin leather. Sucks that I’m finally able to get the bag I’ve been thinking about for a couple years now, and the only ones in the older style are in the satin leather or a lot more expensive.
If I had a choice I’d probably go with the classic calfskin. I don’t exactly mind the satin calfskin as I have the blueberry small calcifer puzzle and there is some wrinkling/creasing but it still looks pretty good. I don’t use it often and I’ve dropped it a few times and it still looks good, no major scratching and even if there is - it kind of blends in with the bag.

I will say, I have a mini puzzle in rust satin calfskin that’s been kept in the box and never used, but it is developing creasing. So, regardless if you use the bag or not I would say it is still prone to developing creases/softening over time.

Recent AWL 3.0 in taupe or vanilla?

Thank you! I'm so grateful for this reply, as I can see that you have a similar 'take' on colors and functionality to me. What you described about the undertone is exactly my concern about the taupe, and even this year's bags look very different in different photos online. That's what drove me to consider vanilla. And what you describe about lighter colors getting exposed to dirt, color transfer, weather, etc. is exactly what concerned me about vanilla! And I also don't protect or treat my bags. I suspect I may just have to try to see the taupe in person to see whether it's the right balance of being light enough to fit the purpose I have but not too light to show a lot of wear, and with the right undertone.

Again, thank you for sharing your knowledge! Very much appreciated.
Good luck. And maybe another Alto collector will chime in with some
actual reporting on taupe this year. In the meantime, you might see if there
are photos or even videos online from sources other than Dooney.... try
searching (google) and see what links pop up and also see if YouTube has
any recent videos.

Recommended leather repair shop? DMV

That is a hefty price, but I kinda see why. The Horizontal LockIt is more on the difficult side, when it comes to leathercraft, especially that to replace all leather, they need to completely disassemble it. And to do it well, I can't imagine any serious craftsmen (who works with quality leathers and has the know-how) doing it for anything under 7-800 USD. But 1500... that is some serious Rago Tax :D

Cites for Chanel python baby pink 2018

Ah, OK. Well they should have given you a CITES because you can't travel without it. Every time a CITES listed item enters a new territory it's looked as, as being imported.

From: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/cites-imports-and-exports#personal-and-household-effects:
Ah thank you so much . It’s really helpful

On the hunt for a BRIGHT coral Kelly! Rose Jaipur, Orange Poppy..?

Thank you dear! :hugs:
I think RJ Togo will be beautiful... just that togo is more matte finish than clemence. OP is very pop orange color but why have two orange bags? OP is NOT coral.... so I'm confused. Can you post pics of the 2 bags you are considering?
Israeli_Flava! :hugs: Sorry dear to have confused you. It is probably because of my English which is not the best, especially if I am writing late in the night.
So, my understanding initially was that RJ is bright orangeyish pink coral and OP is true poppy, strong orange. That was the impression I had when I saw the first pics of it. But as we know H colors are almost impossible to photograph! And the more pics I saw the more confused I got. But I think I will choose OP (was offered the one on the right). Just because for my K28 I want a POP of color and in some pics RJ in togo looked too "calm" (was offered the one in the middle). I mean, I will have an Orange B35 in Togo GHW and that will be my more "serious" bag. Perhaps too much to have two orange tones in my teeny tiny collection but I just love orange! And it goes well with everything I wear.
But to be honest, I still don't know exactly what is the color I will receive, whether is will be the OP or RJ. In every single picture they look a bit different. Dang H!!
Ah, and I got pretty excited about the Rouge Pivoine too at one point, but was told it is more like true red. And I don't know a single piece of clothing in red.

How to Make Gucci Angelina Platform Slides Comfy?

1. Where's the discomfort?

2. What type of foot do you have, e.g. high instep.flat or flatter feet, narrow or wade? If you are sliding around because the upper is too wide try wearing socks (I know ) or wear a thin foot-bandage (non-compression) rolled to invisibility. Weirdly, it's better to have these types of backless shoes slightly tighter at first because the effort to make them (sometimes ballet flats are similar) stay on is agony for the whole leg.

I used to work in a (ballet and theatrical) shoemakers. RTW shoes are never going to be perfect, and the less adjustable and less material they have to secure the foot the less comfortable they will be to walk in because they offer no support. Slides, flip-flops, mules and non-adjustable sandals offer very little support so the wearer holds the shoe with the toes (ache) gets blisters as the foot moves or has to shuffle just to hold them on.

Think about fit for purpose. Fashion is one thing, but these were not designed as walking shoes. Slip-on mules (slides) generically, they were designed for shuffling around the pool or house as slippers, that's what they were designed for.

It may also be that flat or flat-forms don't suit your feet. Slides are actually better for a flat/flatter and wider foot because most of the owners of feet like that walk flat-footed/shuffle (i.e. don't roll through their feet) and take up all the space of the upper so it stays secure.

Travelling with H jewelry and bracelets

T
Me on a current trip: the ugly green pouch is for bigger bracelets, the hard sided box is for the necklace that tingles and the pouch is for all the other jewelry.

And this is new me (imagine the rest inside in zip baggies)IMG_7072.jpeg

This is revolutionary. Imagine how many purchases I can stuff inside the suitcase now that all this room has freed up!

New release- The Pâquerette Collection

Sounds like the paquerrette ring (spelling?) was made for you and your collection! Sorry to be an enabler ;)

Thank you both! I do like it a lot but not sure it’s an “I love it”. I ultimately passed on it and got some Schiaparelli and Akris bags next door instead 😂 (totally different vibe, no regrets on passing I hope!).

Which one would you take? CHANEL boy VS CHANEL timeless top handle

I think the one with top handle is more chic cuz the classic timeless flap without top handle is Little bit overused

Yeah,it’s little underrated if u ask me

Would you choose them over classic flaps without top handle?
I would and I have. When in the car or elsewhere, it is easier to grab it and it also gives you multi look: a handbag or a shoulder bag.

Lint clinging to my new canvas

Has anyone purchased the new canvas collection and had the issue of lint, hair, and other debris clinging to it? I have just received the drawstring in black and noticed right away as soon as I got it out of the plastic everything was sticking to it. Luckily I don't have pets but all my friends and family do. I have other pieces in the collection in the colors Forest and Beige that do not do this. I'm in love with this drawstring and debated getting it in forest or beige but chose black because I wanted to be able to use it and not worry about it clashing with what I'm wearing. I am wondering if anyone else noticed this or has any suggestions on how to fix the problem. I do scotch guard the canvas and I don't want to until I'm sure I'm going to keep it. I don't want to keep a bag that attracts everything to it and have to constantly lint roll it. Please help. Or any thoughts on what you would do in this situation...return and exchange for a different color? It's an amazing collection and I recommend buying it but not in black.
You have 30 days to return it. I’d give the bag a try for a few weeks, see how it goes. If you decide to keep it, then scotchguard it. I’ve been looking at this bag in the French blue color too.

Viktor&Rolf Fall Fashion Show

You've linked to a couture collection, so that would only ever be available by going to their maison and getting it made and fitted for you, and the price depends on whether you want to have changes made to the actual design. But it'll be at least in the range of tens of thousands of dollars. It's probably only actually ordered by their closest friends and long-term clients and maybe a small number of celebrities.

They did used to have some ready-to-wear, like a very very limited distribution of more basic/staple pieces (jumpers/tees with cute bows and such). But I think I only ever saw any of their stuff maybe once in Printemps or Galeries Lafayette in Paris in probably the early to mid-2010s, and never again since, or anywhere else.

Their runway shows these days are likely mainly a PR effort for creating a bit of brand desirability and awareness, and maybe as a creative outlet for Viktor and Rolf themselves and their team, but ultimately 99% of V&R revenue these days is probably just from Flower Bomb and Spice Bomb perfumes, which are super popular.

Medium height black heels recommendations please

Hello! I looking for a pair of classic black pumps/heels with a medium height (between 1" and 3") in a very classic shape that won't go out of style. Something similar to the picture below but preferably a little shorter.

I'm looking for leather and a high quality make. I'm so done with mediocre quality that falls apart in a few years.

A small, discreet logo is fine, but I don't want anything large or obvious.

Thanks!

Would you wear these old pearls and if so how?

Would I wear it? Probably not. I am not a pearl fan but that’s me. I am, however, a huge fan of wearing meaningful jewelry. There is a history, a closeness to family. I agree I wouldn’t change it. Just wear it. I like the idea of wearing casually. Everytime you put on the necklace you’ll think of your grandparents. How you wore them in your photo is perfect.

Chanel ballet flats shoe stretcher recommendations?

Posted this somewhere else on this forum, works perfectly for me.

Hi, I had the same problem due to a previously broken toe one did not fit great, and stretched mine out half a size. This is a trusted method I use a lot on leather. It only works on real leather with not to much stitching. So on the quilted flats it would be harder.
1) take a pair of ankle socks and wet the toe part, press between towels to remove excess water.
2) put them on upside down, so any seams are on the bottom of your feet, the heel part rest on your ankle now.
3) if you need to stretch a whole size, flip the heel part back over your toes, so they are covered with two layers of fabric. No need to wet them again.
4) Put on the flats you want to expand.
5) Blow dry your feet on a hot setting. You should hold the blow dryer pretty close to the leather, leaving a few cm. Keep moving the dryer over the shoe to all the parts you want stretched.
6) Check after a few minutes, because this can go really fast!
7) when satisfied, remove moist socks and replace with dry ones, again on or two layers. Wear those for a few hours.
Your shoes will now have molded to your feet.
