Chanel Fall-Winter 2024/25 Pre-Collection Act I (24B)

Hi Miss Leather! Thanks for responding! Im glad it wears well. I have a pic of the underside of the flap and I can’t make out what it is. Looks like residue and if so, it should come off. Im just hoping it's not the coating that is on the leather, that gives the leather its beautiful shine, wearing away. Here is a pic. Your thoughts? The exterior looks to be in near perfect condition.
Hi Debbie,

It looks like it should come off after cleaning and using some conditioner. In general I was really afraid of lambskin as daily use but the shiny lambskin surprised me.
Here is how it looks the inside flap of mine though after constant use for your reference. Mine is from 23K so almost 2 years old. I dont baby my bag but I put some conditioner once or twice.
In general black is easy to take care of in my opinion.

Large Kirigami as crossbody

I know many people have questioned what to use one or two of the Kirigami set for, but I find the entire set very useful. Sometimes, I use the large one as a clutch for casual evenings outings.
I use the medium as a passport cover for travel (as pictured) or as a catch all.
And I use the small one as a card holder or as a bag charm (as pictured).
I love my Kirigami set, wish it would come out in the DE canvas.Screenshot_20240821_093933_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20240821_093843_Gallery.jpg

Question for Vintage Coach Fans

Thank you both!

The listings I am looking at might have mixed the names a bit. The Sonoma looks like the one in @Narnanz pic, with a zipper on top. The binocular bag is as shown in the pic, but with a turnlock closure. Which, I guess solves the problem of a fussy button 🤔
Make sure when you find the bag you like that you get it authenticated by our wonderful Authenticators on the AT Coach thread.
The one with the turnlock was probably the Nottingham....or someone had the button changed?
You can also use the ID thread to check that you are getting the style you want.

Where do you buy your vintage RTW?

There is no easy answer to this question. I am fond of both mid century modern (Norman norell, et al) and more modern stuff, like JPG for Hermes. Make sure you know your measurements and how the garments fit. Vintage sizing is very different than today’s sizing. Make sure you know which vogue runway collections, your ideal pieces come from (you can subscribe to vogue to gain access to runway collections of prior years). Of course, luck plays a role. I once got a Vincuna overcoat for DH in a warehouse on lower fifth ave. Expensive, but a fraction of the cost of vicuña today. A friends college age nephew is now the happy recipient of some of these types of finds. (DH turns his closet over regularly)

Then scour shops in your area; eBay; first dibs; auctions like the latest Sothebys one had Chanel. . .auction houses are not the best guarantee of condition so it’s caveat emptor. If in Japan, LA, or NY, or Paris, simply google best vintage shopping, for the latest list. I have internet searches going for my favorites. Even if something is in pristine deadstock condition, the mid century stuff at least, had linings that may have deteriorated under the sheer weight of the garment, so I have a specialty dry cleaner and tailor on hand to customize and replace linings etc. Another service like invisible reweaving might be necessary.

And, I don’t recommend buying a specialty garment, such as a lizard trenchcoat (it might have been Gucci, IDK) like I did. It was more expensive to try to refurbish it (four figures before I stopped) than the purchase price. A perfect Purse in South Hampton used to be a favorite stop for me and my mom, but it was bc it was convenient pre covid. Not sure we ever bought much. The smaller places have charm but not enough selection or specialization IMO. A friends daughter likes to shop in Brooklyn, but I don’t know the latest great places there.

ETA: I happen to believe for example, KL for Chanel in the 1990s designed fuller silhouettes than he did in the early aughts (when I started shopping Chanel 57). My theory was that his designs became more body conscious when he first lost the weight). I found it helped to know bits of trivia like that when trying to find older styles. I also remember buying from the YSL and Gucci boutiques when Tom Ford was the designer. I still have some of those pieces in my closet, and they help me to evaluate items that purport to be of those collections on sale in recent years. The Nineties, not exactly being vintage (except in my own closet lol) It simply takes a lot of time and energy, and I resigned myself to making some mistakes until you get a sense for your taste and what is out there.

Instant reveal - Speedy Soft 30 :)

It is the pm cosmetics pouch, it’s my favorite size for most my bags. I have a few of them in different patterns as I do love them. It holds just the right amount for me and doesn’t overwhelm most of my bags. I don’t generally carry small bags though. I’ve always been a medium to large bag lady. I like my stuff with me all the time 😂
And thank you for your kind words, this bag was my first soft speedy and I was glad I grabbed it before it was gone in the limited color 😊
Thank you so much for confirming, now I know what size to get!

Vachetta cleaner and conditioner

View attachment 6027021
I have used this on all the vintage Vuitton pieces I have bought if the vachetta was no longer shiny. It may darken the patina slightly, but is a fair trade off imo for how hydrated, soft, and shiny it leaves the vintage leather!
I second this. I’m in process of restoring some truly vintage pieces (1980s) and this has been the best.
May need several coats, but the color is beautiful after.

Not mentioned, but definitely avoid leather honey or Saphir on light vachetta. Will darken it significantly… and not in a pretty way.

Was this mini caviar a good buy? (Pre-loved)

Great price for a caviar mini, especially if you like the color. The white mark might be removable by Leather Surgeons, depending on what it is. I love my caviar mini rectangular and even more so now after I got the strap shortened by Leather Surgeons. The ribbon tying trick got annoying after a while, not to mention it twisted the strap around which isn't great for the leather IMHO.

Constance Elan?

Ignoring all quota considerations - if this were a standard proportioned Constance, would you feel the same?
If it were so, you might think of it as a useful bag for life,
whereas the Elan is a little more specialised.
Return it soon, if that is your intention.
It seems to have come 'out of the blue' and I think it is reasonable to understand that you thought it was an opportunity too good to miss.
You seem to have already established a good relationship as a long-term client purchasing across the store.
One return might pass by, but you don't want to get a reputation.
I haven't returned it, and I am currently using it with pleasure.
