Puffiness of caviar coin purse

They can vary depending on the season/color/etc. I would suggest shopping in the boutique if you have a preference of what you want yours to look like, but that to me would not be a reason to return--it can be pretty normal.
Thanks. It’s been a while and it was the last one they had so I wasn’t sure if it was “normal” or not. Didn’t have another one to compare it to.

Does anyone know if the classic zipped coin purse is a hard item to get these days? I heard it was difficult to find classic pieces for a while.

Question about buying duty free in US

Hello, I live in Canada and am travelling to the US soon. I am wanting a watch and was wondering if buying at the duty free in the airport would be cheaper than buying here. Would anyone know how much one saves when buying duty free at the airport?
It varies a lot brand by brand. I know that the duty free Hermes at the San Francisco aiport, the difference is only the state sales tax, so the price is the US List price, no tax. Other brands it may be a lot more.

Our First Rolexes 👑👑

Congratulations! That's so exciting, especially when it happened for both of you at the same time! It's so special to share this experience with each other!
My husband and I each got our first one last year but separate times. It was very exciting for each of us but for you two to share this experience together is sooooo special. Enjoy them!
I was so excited when the AD called and told me she had both watches for us! I couldn’t contain my excitement! Congratulations to you and your husband as well!!!

Vintage Exotic Bag - CITES & Spa?

Hi ladies & gentlemen,

I’m based in the U.S. I just saw quite possibly the most beautiful vintage bag I’ve ever seen for sale on a U.S. resale site and impulsively pulled the trigger and made the purchase.

It’s a vintage Kelly 28, Shiny Alligator in Rouge H color, with gold hardware.

The listing did not mention it coming with a CITES certificate, which I believe I would need to have if I ever wanted to travel out of the country with the bag.

The listing photos also show some fading of the Rouge H color in some of the “cracks” between the alligator scales on the bottom corners of the bag and on the clochette string (the fading makes the red look lighter and more pinkish/orangeish in those areas).

My two questions for you are:

1) Will the Hermes boutique be able to issue me a new CITES certificate that would permit me to travel outside of the country on vacation with my vintage bag?

2) Will the Hermes spa be able to work its paint color magic to make the faded pink/orange-looking cracks look like the Rouge H color again?

Many thanks in advance for your wisdom and guidance on these matters based on your own experiences and observations over the years!

Little self-proclaimed Hermès expert here:

First of all: That bag is STUNNING and I envy you with all my heart. Just kidding, I am so happy for you, and the bag is so incredibly special.

Now regarding travelling: Should be no problem, as somebody else already mentioned, rule about personal items which are exempt etc. I have done so with my exotics.

Regarding the Cites: Hermès will not be able to provide you with a new one, but you technically could go through the process and get one yourself. It‘s a long and expensive process though.

And about the discoloring: It‘s not. The scales are supposed to be lighter in the „cracks“ that is what brings out the pattern even more and makes it so beautiful. The scuffing on the corners is a different story, and Hermès will repaint those to the best of their abilities, but I can guarantee they would not paint between the scales.

It‘s vintage, it‘s lovely, it‘s stunning. And exactly what its supposed to look like.

Congratulations on your purchase

Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters

At least he brought his daughter and didn't make his wife go.

I do not believe for an instant that it is the case, but I have to admit that when I saw reports today that France Bean and her husband just welcomed a baby, my first thought was wondering if Dave is actually the father. I mean, THAT would be a soap opera!

I’d have to imagine… and hope… that Dave regards Frances like a daughter and wouldn’t even think of going there. 🥴

He definitely is on image rehab with the happy dad and daughter outing to the Halloween store. So obvious! 🥸

Alternatives to VCA (based on poor stock and shopping experience)

Really sorry to read from your experience at Van Cleef. Yeah starting new can be quite challending sometimes. I have ventured into Chopard recently more and more and I really like that Brand and the heritage behind it.

The Happy Heart Selection from Chopard can also be an option. If you like the variability of stones, but in a heart shape.

Wishing you all the best for finding your pair of earrings 🤗🤗

Help Choosing a Watch: Leaning Toward Cartier Panther, But Open to Other Suggestions

Thank you all so much for sharing your advice and thoughtful insights. It’s incredibly helpful to have so many opinions, and it really made me reconsider rushing into a purchase. I’ve decided to take my time and try on more options, including Rolex and smaller sized AP, before making any decisions. I really appreciate the guidance and will hold off on buying anything for now!

I got scammed with a superfake 😱

My orders from LV arrived and I finally decided for the cognac and against the tourterelle. Brown colors just have my heart
I returned the first cognac I had ordered at beginning of september as I was so shocked about my fake tourterelle. I was like „better get this fake **** solved and get my money back than buying another new bag“…. But now I „recovered“ from the drama, lol, and I am so happy to hold my one and only true PM in my hands now
Thank you all for your support and that I‘m able to share my joy :hbeat:
It's beautiful!!! Enjoy

Inside Jobs

St Martin - the store closed in 2011 or so and I heard from an SA at a neighbouring store that the H boutique closed because they were selling fakes.

This article says that the bags were being made in 2011, so I'm kinda just jumping to my own conclusions - it could have closed because the French side doesn't get enough cruise ship tourists, it was too close to the SBH store, or a number of other reasons!

My thinking could be wrong though, since the article also says...

"According to prosecutors, the small-but-mighty French operation – which “targeted Asian tourists in Paris but also had clients in Hong Kong was uncovered after French police wiretapped the home of a man suspected of selling authentic – but stolen – Hermès bags in Asia. In addition to purely counterfeit bags, WWD reported that the ring also resold bags “created under the ‘bon au personnel’ provision, which allows Hermès employees to acquire the elements and make their own bags, identified by a shooting star stamp” – albeit in a strict “for personal use” capacity."
I just find it suspicious that the store closed around the same time of the bust, the rumour from an SA, and that there are posts on here about easily getting QBs in 2010 at that store... but, again, even though I trust the SA, it's just a rumour at its core!
I never came to know there was an Hermes boutique in St Martin, but Hermès closed a plenty of boutiques in Europe and opened more in Asia and USA all these years.
